10. Takeo and Yamato My Love Story - 313 Votes
Takeo and Yamato’s relationship is very relatable in the sense that it discusses how other’s aversion to different physical appearances doesn’t affect their ability to receive love. Takeo is often overlooked by women because of his large physical appearance and whenever he develops a crush on a girl she ends up trying to get with his best friend, Makoto. But that all changes when he saves Yamato from a groper on a train and she instantly falls in love with him. The show follows their first love high school relationship all the way up to their engagement.
9. Haruka (Sailor Uranus) and Michiru (Sailor Neptune) Sailor Moon - 354 Votes
Something you might not know if you’ve only seen the U.S. dubbed version of Sailor Moon is that Haruka and Michiru is one of the first female queer couples seen in anime. Sadly, when the show was being translated, they decided to make the two cousins because they didn’t think Americans would be all that welcoming to a lesbian couple. Granted, that created some confusion when the two were seen on screen together in a lot more intimate positions than cousins would be in. That doesn’t stop the two from being one of the most popular couples in anime.
8. Kirito and Asuna Sword Art Online - 358 Votes
Kirito was determined to not get close to anyone in the game, but then he met Asuna who refused to let him brush her off like he did with others he came across. Their love story may take place within a video game, it doesn’t mean that it makes it any less adorable. One of the many ways that Kirito is impressed with Asuna is through her cooking abilities, using the old saying “a way to a man's heart is through his stomach” true yet again. The one thing that would really make this relationship perfect is if Kirito and Asuna get married outside of the game too.
7. Yuri and Victor Yuri!! On Ice - 364 Votes
If you happened to read our recent blog titled Our Favorite Romantic Ships, you’d know we already love Yuri and Victor’s relationship, even though it isn’t technically official. The two have chemistry that would easily rival most official anime couples and they’re technically engaged even if it wasn’t explicitly said. Hopefully one day we will get some much needed confirmation that these two are living happily together as a couple. Yuri saw Victor as a role model from the start and once Victor starts to coach Yuri, we get to see their relationship grow stronger than just a coach and athlete’s relationship.
6. Usagi (Sailor Moon) and Mamoru (Tuxedo Mask) Sailor Moon - 419 Votes
Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask’s relationship was one that lasted multiple lifetimes. While Usagi and Mamoru’s relationship had a rocky start, when they were in their Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask personas they were very friendly to one another. As the show goes on they fall in love and their relationship is one of the major plot points for the show. Even when the two didn’t have their memories of their previous lives, they still ended up together, showing just how strong their love for one another is.
5. Haruhi and Tamaki Ouran Host Club - 414 Votes
Haruhi and Tamaki are time and again voted one of the cutest anime couples, without actually getting together in the anime. Ouran High School Host Club ended after only one season, leaving the question of who Haruhi ends up with unanswered. Luckly, the manga continues the story revealing that Haruhi and Tamaki do end up together, and actually marry by the end of the series. Watching their relationship slowly develop through the anime is a fun watch. Tamaki first thinks his feelings for Haruhi are more fatherly, but as time goes on he quickly realizes he’s falling in love with her instead. His devotion to her and determination to protect her is incredibly sweet.
4. Taiga and Ryuuji Toradora - 441 Votes
Taiga and Ryuuji’s relationship starts off a lot like a cheesy romantic comedy. They both have feelings for each other’s best friends and agree to help the other make their desired relationship happen. Of course nothing goes as planned, and the two end up falling in love with each other by the end. There’s a lot of fun hijinks that happen throughout the show, including Ryuuji dressing up like a Christmas bear to cheer up Taiga on Christmas Eve, creating one of the cutest anime Christmas episodes to date.
3. Kagome and Inuyasha Inuyasha - 503 Votes
Inuyasha and Kagome’s relationship had a bit of a rough start. The two ultimately disliked each other and would bicker constantly. Eventually they learned to get along and work as a team, and as they started to get to know each other they slowly started to get feelings for one another. Of course there were a lot of obstacles the two had to overcome *cough* Kikyo *cough*, but in the end, they are able to find their way back to one another and fully show their love to each other.
2. Kyo and Tohru Fruits Basket - 539 Votes
Kyo and Tohru make a good couple for a number of reasons, but the number one reason is because they complement each other’s personalities so well. While Kyo can be a lot more fiery and stubborn at times (it must be the ginger in him), Tohru is much more cheerful and willing to forgive others. Tohru is able to help Kyo move past his issues with his curse, and Kyo is the confidant that she desperately needed after her mother’s death. The two slowly go from friends to something more as the series goes on, creating a satisfying love story.
1. Edward and Winry Fullmetal Alchemist - 547 Votes
Edward and Winry have known each other since childhood, making their relationship one of the longest on this list. After losing his mother, Edward and his brother moved in with Winry and her grandmother, giving them plenty of time to create a strong childhood bond that would carry over into their adult lives. Because they’ve known each other for so long, they can interpret what the other is trying to convey and help each other express different emotions that are hard to express in front of others. They complement each other in various ways, from their different talents to personalities. They not only make a great romantic couple, but also a great team.
