The Legend of Korra Ruins of the Empire Part 1 Review

This graphic novel came a great time for me because I finished re-watching Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra recently. The world created in Avatar/Korra is so vast and interesting that I could watch hundreds of episodes before getting bored. Both shows are finished, but these little graphic novels are another great way to get your fix.

The Legend of Korra Ruins of the Empire Part 1 takes place in the Earth Kingdom not long after the final season of Korra. (There are a series of comics that take place directly after the last episode, but I haven’t read those yet.) You have the same familiar faces you knew from the show and some new ones introduced to mix things up. The biggest thing that I enjoyed about this graphic novel was how familiar it felt despite being new. The series might not be on TV anymore, but the new material has the same flow and still feels like an episode of Korra.

If you need more Korra in your life, this is a solid addition to the universe, and I’m sure there will be more coming soon. This volume is only part one, so you bet there’s a cliffhanger waiting on that last page. My biggest problem is that I’m too impatient for the next volume!

The Legend Of Korra Ruins Of The Empire Volume 1

On the eve of its first elections, the Earth Kingdom finds its future endangered by its past. Even as Kuvira stands trial for her crimes, vestiges of her imperial ambitions threaten to undermine the nation’s democratic hopes. But when Korra, Asami, Mako, and Bolin don’t all see eye-to-eye as to the solution, drastic measures will be taken to halt a new march to war!
