Alright Soul Eater fans, Death Weapon Meister Academy is back in session. For today’s lesson, we’ll take a journey into the Soul Eater The Perfect Edition 01! So prepare to be thrown back to 2008 as we revisit the original Atsushi Ohkubo’s Soul Eater story!
For new fans of the series, here is a quick rundown of the story. The plot follows a Weapon Meister named Maka with her Death Scythe named Soul as they try to collect (and feed Soul) 99 tainted living souls and one witch’s soul. As soon as that is completed, Soul will get even stronger and fulfill his goal of becoming Lord Death’s scythe.
Along the way, Maka and Soul become great friends with an assassin Weapon Meister named Black Star and his Death Scythe Tsubaki; and even Lord Death’s son named Death the Kid and his Death Scythes Patty & Liz. The overall dynamic and pairing of the groups are very balanced, with Black Star being the loud and impatient fighter and his weapon Tsubaki being calm and patient. Even Death the Kid has his own obsession of symmetry; he almost died from a Pharaoh because the sarcophagus’s design was so perfectly symmetrical that he couldn’t destroy it. Luckily Patty & Liz helped him work past it.
For long time fans of the series, you may already know that the beginning volumes revolve around setting the world up and introducing the main cast. I really enjoyed seeing more depth to the characters than in the anime counterpart. And for the fans of a certain *cough* cat witch *cough*, there is more revealed of her in GREATER detail. And if that doesn’t excite you, then knowing this series will dive into deeper and real struggles we all face every day should! So if you want your collection to be perfect, be sure to pick up Soul Eater The Perfect Edition 01.
Soul Eater: The Perfect Edition manga volume 1 collects approximately 1½ original volumes in an omnibus hardcover edition which features story and art by Atsushi Ohkubo. Maka, a Weapon Meister at the Death Weapon Meister Academy (DWMA), has but one goal in life—to successfully evolve her living-scythe partner, Soul Eater, into a Death Scythe, the ultimate weapon of Death. To accomplish this, Soul must consume 99 tainted human souls, in addition to the soul of a witch. It sounds simple enough, but with devious creatures and unearthly monsters getting in the way at every turn (to say nothing of interpersonal relationships), it’s much easier said than done!Add to CartLearn More
