This review is by Brandon.

A surprising addition to the world of Tite Kubo comes Burn The Witch volume 1 which immediately introduces you to a thriving world. While many answers aren't provided out the gate, it implies more questions than answers to keep you interested in the series. While the story is fast-paced, it is great to see Tite Kubo get a refreshing crack at a universe he dominated in. The character designs are "cool" as well as a sense of familiarity with the designs. Volume 1 does a great job of ramping up for a second volume that will answer many questions readers have. Ultimately, there is an even larger question looming over the whole series as the book sleeve immediately gives away what most readers may "think" as they begin the series... As a whole, wonderful art, and memorable scenes as expected like any other Tite Kubo series. Very excited to see the full English release of this be complete, and wonderful to see the 'shared universe' Tite Kubo is making! A quick read, the whole introduction is a great build-up to the second half of the volume which really shines in Tito Kubo's ability to create gorgeous action scenes with highly intriguing antagonists and protagonists.

The product itself comes with a slipcover that is a great way to protect the manga itself. The physical manga cover is also of higher quality which feels great in the hands. The paper quality is standard for a Viz Books release.

Overall, it will be interesting to see this series continue in 2022, with hopefully another Viz Books release on Volume 2 when it does come out!

Check back every month for our manga review contest page as we will be adding new manga to the list! Don't forget to submit your reviews for a chance to win a $75 gift card like Brandon did!

Burn the Witch Manga Volume 1

Burn the Witch manga volume 1 features story and art by Tite Kubo, the creator of Bleach, and is presented in a slipcased paperback edition.

Behind the world you think you know lies a land of magic and fairy tales - but Reverse London isn't the pretty picture that's painted in children's books. Fairy tales have teeth, and the dedicated agents of Wing Bind are the only thing standing between you and the real story.

Ninny Spangcole and Noel Niihashi are Wing Bind agents, and they aren't serving out of the goodness of their hearts - they want achievement points and cold, hard credits in their bank accounts. But instead of getting a prime assignment with lots of gold and glory, they get stuck on babysitting duty. Before they can grow comfortable with boredom, Ninny and Noel find themselves on the run with a fugitive who's like catnip for dragons. Can they manage to pull off a happy ending or has their story just been cursed?
