Laid Back Camp was a pleasant change of pace for me. I usually read gore filled action manga with plenty of monsters, battles, and supernatural abilities. This manga has none of those things and that is okay with me! Laid Back Camp follows two girls Rin and Nadeshiko as they rough it in the great outdoors. Other than enjoying nature these two have nothing in common. Rin stays calm and collected mainly because she knows what she is doing. Rin camped alone before she met/found Nadeshiko sleeping in a campsite bathroom. Nadeshiko is very odd and absent minded, but she brings the funny to this manga. The view of Mt. Fuji is all it took to bring this unlikely pair together.
You’ll enjoy all of the camping tips scattered throughout Laid Back Camp. Then with the introduction of the Outdoor Exploration Club the reader can really get that Slice of Life/School Life feeling that you get reading other manga like Nichijou and Please Tell me! Galko-Chan!
Reading a good manga helps you escape the stress of everyday life and it’s easy to disconnect when there’s monsters and magic. Laid Back Camp doesn’t have magical girls but it does have a simple message: Take time to relax and enjoy the view. Now who wants to go camping?
