I’m not exaggerating when I say that this novel was one of the most engrossing and enjoyable stories I’ve ever read. Allow me to explain why: Simply put, this novel does not depend on the isekai tropes (being reincarnated into another world) and it doesn’t depend on attractive anime girls either. A lot of novels/manga/anime nowadays are too caught up in what’s trending, thus a lack-luster story can gain popularity just by being an isekai with cute girls or a ridiculous plot. King of the Labyrinth has none of that, it’s a true-blood fantasy story and that’s why I love it.
You’re greeted with the main character on the first page of the novel, a low-level minotaur with no name or identity who just spawned into a labyrinth. As it goes, if the previous minotaur on this level was defeated by a human adventurer, a new minotaur would respawn. The new minotaur, our main character, defies the odds and becomes the strongest minotaur there ever was to satisfy his lust for battle. You’ll meet many adventurers who rise to the challenge of defeating him, but is it really that easy to defeat a near-immortal minotaur?
If you’re a fan of Goblin Slayer or Berserk, I highly recommend this novel. It’s pretty gruesome and the author shows no mercy to our imagination. It’s a quick and easy read too; with less than 200 pages this novel told a truly amazing story in a short span. The second novel comes out in April and you bet I’m gonna count down the days until its release. The only downside is that there are no illustrations, I wish there was one or two so I could get a full picture of what the minotaur looks like (we do get to see him on the front cover though).
Overall this was one of the best novels I’ve read and I hope I convinced you, dear reader, to give King of the Labyrinth a try. If you like western fantasy novels or Dungeons and Dragons style games, I guarantee you’ll love this novel as it has the same mythical feeling. Praise to Shien BIS for writing such an incredible story, and to many more stories of his to come!
On the tenth floor of the labyrinth awaits the minotaur. Many brave adventurers have challenged this great beast, all have thoroughly failed. "More!" Demands the powerful monster. "Send me more powerful opponents!" This creature blindly pursues strength at any cost. Perhaps it will even grow strong enough to surpass the rules of the labyrinth itself! Can any adventurer hope to stand against such a mighty creature?Add to Cart Learn More
