Oh my goodness, I can’t even begin to express with words how absolutely freaking adorable this manga is! I honestly love the author, Shinichi Fukuda’s art style as it‘s super sparkly and detailed, so it’s like it just pops right out at you. I mean just look at the cover art of the manga!
I honestly love the main character, Marin Kitagawa (the girl featured on the cover of this manga) as she’s a super pretty highschool girl who loves cosplaying and has a funky sweet personality. The plot is based on Marin wanting to try cosplaying as her favorite characters and she just happened to see the other main character of this story, Wakana Gojo, sewing after school one day. From a past experience with his childhood friend, Gojo always feared he’d get judged for his unusual hobby of making clothes for Hina dolls (Antique Dolls used to display for a special celebration In Japan called Hinanmatsuri). When Marin found out, she was overjoyed and fascinated! Gojo was asked by Marin to help her make a homemade cosplay, but he’s only ever made clothing for dolls and wonders if he’s really up to the task of making a whole outfit for a pretty girl.
I have never come across any anime or manga directly relating to cosplay even though it’s such a big thing! That’s definitely what makes My Dress-Up Darling so unique and for sure one of my favorite manga of all time. I highly recommend this manga as it’s something different from the usual and also a lovely story that’ll make you smile from ear to ear.
To Wakana, people like beautiful Marin Kitagawa, a trendy girl who’s always surrounded by a throng of friends, is practically an alien from another world. But when cheerful Marin—never one to be shy—spots Wakana sewing away one day after school, she barges in with the aim of roping her quiet classmate into her secret hobby: cosplay! Will Wakana’s wounded heart be able to handle the invasion from this sexy alien?!Add to CartLearn More
