The legendary ‘Fenrir’ has been brought forth as a light novel. “Woof Woof Story I Told You to Turn Me Into a Pampered Pooch, Not Fenrir!” is written by Inumajin and also has a few fun, artistic illustrations by Kochimo. Being a fan of wolf stories and ancient folklore, I was ready to dive into this potential new favorite. Was it everything I was expecting?..
“Awrf?!” (While this book was fun to read, it would sometimes trail off in unexpected directions, making it difficult to imagine the world and scenes in my mind.)
Routa dies from overwork in his busy human life. Now he is reborn into a strong body of a legendary wolf, making for a most-common reincarnation story. Things then start to get a little ‘weird.’ Like howling that causes beams of light to emit from one’s mouth? All of Routa’s enemies that don’t stand a chance made the story feel half-boring.
Although there seemed to be plenty of potential action scenes, with a quick howl and beam of death they’re finished as quickly as they’re started. Some parts just seem off, for instance try picturing a pack of wolves carrying a carcass the size of a house similar to ants teaming together to lift something hundreds of times their size and weight.
Routa is also very descriptive, which is always great to have in first person novels, he would sometimes also explain things in color. Being a legendary wolf, I could only assume he can see in color, even though dogs, including wolves, are actually color blind.
“Woof! Woof!” (Although the novel was a little rough around the edges, I’m highly anticipating the manga to clear up some of my wildest imaginations.)
“HAROOOOO!” (The story itself has potential and I would recommend this to anyone who loves wolves, old folktales and series like Reincarnated as a Slime, I’m a Spider – So What?, and other similar reincarnation stories.)
Due to extreme fatigue and terrible work conditions, Routa dies without having done much with his life. As he breathes his last, the only thought in his mind is to be reborn as the dog of a rich family so he can enjoy the good life. A merciful goddess takes his plight to heart and grants his final wish, sending Routa to be reincarnated as the pet of a wealthy young lady! It seems like he got exactly what he wanted, but it soon becomes clear that he's much too large, much too powerful, and gets in too much trouble to be any regular old dog!Add to CartLearn More
