Sword Art Online Alicization Manga Volume 1 Review

Sword Art Online Project Alicization Manga Volume 1 continues the popular series of “SAO”. Taking place only a few months after GGO (Gun Gale Online), a drastic turn of events begins to unfold as Asuna and Kirito are confronted by a man who’s seeking revenge in the real world.

Awakened in an unfamiliar world including vast adventures, a ton of action, and a handful of heartfelt emotions, all of which follow the anime closely. But reading the manga allows me to experience and enjoy every fine artistic detail in scenes that could easily be overlooked within the anime.

With Volume 1, we ventured alongside Kirito and his new friends, Alice and Eugeo, as they trekked far north to discover ice, simply in hopes of keeping their lunches cold amidst the summer heat. When an accident occured during their journey and causes them to break a forbidden taboo, their joyful young lives are suddenly turned upside down forever.

I enjoyed the anime when it aired a few years back, but reading the manga and seeing all of the artistic styles that Koutarou Yamada has to offer really brought forth a new sense of joy and love for the series. I would highly recommend Project Alicization Volume 1 to fellow fans of the SAO franchise.
