What if Sleeping Beauty was set in a fantasy world, with just a touch of RPG elements thrown in, and Sleeping Beauty herself actually looking to get a little shut eye instead of having a curse to do it for her? You have yourself Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle. This series follows Princess Syalis of the Human Nation as she gets kidnapped by the Demon King and held hostage at his castle. Instead of fearing for her life like a typical damsel in distress, all Sylais wants to do is get a good night’s sleep! Follow Sylais as she roams the castle looking to put together the perfect pillow made from the Teddy Demon’s fur, make a soft bed sheet from the Ghost Shroud, and even find the perfect bed made from a coffin!
What made this story a little extra special for me was all of the references of a typical RPG that were made. It was fun to read things such as “Quest complete,” “Combine materials? /You created____!”, and “A new area has been added!” One of the characters in the story, Dawner the Hero, even represents an RPG main protagonist. As a gamer who plays lots of various RPGs, I really appreciated this aspect to the manga.
This manga had me laughing from start to finish. I enjoyed all of the characters that were introduced in this volume, even the Demon King himself. I will definitely be on the lookout for the next set of volumes to come out for this series. I highly recommend this series to anyone who is looking for a fantasy/comedy genre manga, see a princess fend off for herself in a hilarious way, and a cast of witty characters. Volume 1 is available now and volumes 2 and 3 are available for pre-order. Order your copies today at rightstufanime.com!

The princess’s hapless demonic guards soon discover that their captive expects to be treated like, well, a princess. Things go from to bad to worse—for her captors—when some of Princess Syalis’s schemes end in her untimely—if temporary—demise and she chooses the Forbidden Grimoire for her bedtime reading...
