Our Dining Table invites you into a world of delicious food, fun laughs, and heartwarming company! From storytelling to imaginative artwork, Mita Ori does an excellent job with a boys’ love story that has me simply begging for more.
The story follows a young man, Yutaka, who yields a dark and emotional past as he stumbles upon a newly found appreciation for life. That appreciation comes in the form of two brothers, several years apart in age - an older brother, Minoru, and his younger brother, Tane. Throughout the story, and their indifferent love for food, both Yutaka and Minoru start to find a sense of emotional healing whilst in each other’s company. With a new form of peace and enjoyment within one another, two strangers become the best of friends in this comforting stand-alone story.
Some pages seemed a little more crowded than others, which often caused for a bumpy read, but the artwork was crisp and even had an adorable moment where it looks like Tane had drawn some of the pages! Sadly it felt like the story ended too soon and even seemed rushed near the end. Nonetheless, Our Dining Table is truly a stand-alone boys’ love manga that I'll enjoy rereading many times over! If you're looking for a slice of life/boys’ love/drama I would recommend this series to you! If you're looking for similar titles I would recommend picking up the first volume of What did you eat Yesterday?
