“MADE IN ABYSS: Journey’s Dawn” is Coming to Select Theaters

Based on the acclaimed manga by Akihito Tsukushi, MADE IN THE ABYSS: Journey’s Dawn is the harrowing tale of a young girl’s descent into mysterious Abyss. The Abyss is the world’s last unexplored region, an enormous and treacherous cave system filled with ancient relics and strange creatures. Within the depths of the Abyss, a girl named Riko stumbles upon a robot who looks like a young boy. Riko and her new friend descend into uncharted territory to unlock its mysteries and search for Riko’s missing mother, but what lies in wait for them in the darkness?
With animation handled by Kinema Citrus (Black Bullet, Barakamon, Is the Order a Rabbit??), MADE IN ABYSS: Journey’s Dawn is directed by Kojima Masayuki (Revue Starlight, Black Bullet) and set to a stirring score by Australian composer Kevin Penkin. The film’s lush backgrounds and carefully articulated world are the work of series art director Osamu Masuyama, former background artist for Studio Ghibli (Howl’s Moving Castle, Ponyo, Spirited Away). Their combined vision results in a sweeping adventure epic sure to leave audiences in awe of MADE IN ABYSS: Journey’s Dawn.
