She smokes, cusses, and all around a rebel. She is pretty much the last person you would ever expect to be a magical girl. Meet Majiba Kayo, the high school delinquent who becomes a magical girl after stepping in front of a magical spell. Her creator, a mythical creature named Myu was sent from above to help find the next magical girl to protect the earth. Myu's quest for the perfect candidate is immediately interrupted by evil monsters terrorizing high schoolers. In a spur of the moment, Myu picks the cutest lady (Majiba Kyao) to be the next savior. But, Myu later realizes Majiba is anti-social, anti-sparkles, and straight up anti-hero. If Myu is going to mentor Kayo, he’s going to need more than glitter and girl power to help this girl.

Anti-hero stories are my all time favorite, like Logan from X-men or Jessica Jones. To simply put it, these characters rock. Their jerky attitude mixed with sarcasm and no desire for friendships is the opposite of a typical friendly superhero - but without them, success wouldn’t be possible. That’s exactly what you get from Magical Girl Majiba Kayo, outspoken and rude but a defender of weak. Not a hint of sparkles shows in her magical transformation, only a powerful dark force that transforms her into a badass magical girl. She smokes a pack a day to think, drinks high energy drinks to live, and doesn’t take orders from anyone. But underneath the rough exterior, she’s a sentimental girl when justice calls; she really cares about humanity and wants peace on earth - as long as she can have a cigarette in her mouth while kicking ass.

Pick up this manga, and you won’t regret reading it. It’s an awesome, refreshing take on the magical girl persona. A word to the wise; there is a lot of profanity in the dialogue so this may be a turn-off for some readers. As for the plot, it has similar funny moments like inThe Devil Is A Part-Timer , Satan's Secretary Manga , or Is It Wrong To Try To Pick Up Girls In A Dungeon?. Highly recommend this title, I already pre-ordered Volume 2 and praying this manga series turns into an anime!
