Yu Yu Hakusho Manga Volume 1
About Yu Yu Hakusho Manga Volume 1
Yu Yu Hakusho 1 features story and art by Yoshihiro Togashi.
It was a typical day for Yusuke: go to school at noon, get kicked out by the teacher, fight with his rival Kuwabara, and head for home in time to wake his mom from her drunken stupor. But when he throws himself in front of a car to save a little kid's life, he becomes Tokyo's toughest teenage ghost!
While his childhood friend Keiko grieves over his comatose body, Yusuke has one chance to return to life: raise a "spirit egg" at the behest of the comely Botan (aka Death) and her boss Koenma, lord of the infernal bureaucracy. But the creature that hatches from the spirit egg will be determined by the good or evil in Yusuke's soul; if he's not careful, he could create a monster!

Great Manga
by Glade -
Yu Yu Hakusho is a classic. Volume 1 of this series kicks off a great and memorable battle manga. The mangaka, Yoshihiro Togashi, is a master storyteller. This is evidence by this work (Yu Yu Hakusho) as well as his newer project Hunter X Hunter. This is a great shounen manga. I recommend it.
Spirit Gun!!!!

By far my favorite manga series. I grew up watching the anime, although it is not a masterpiece by any means. The manga itself I can officially say is way better! Diverse cast of characters with real desire, epic battles, emotional moments and Kuwabara is the perfect blend of renegade and comic relief. If I could recommend any manga for a beginner to start off with - it would be Yu Yu Hakusho. For the more seasoned manga collectors - this will be a well earned trip down memory lane.
Would recommend!

Watched the anime as a child. Had to pick up the manga as an adult. Though not perfect, would recommend picking up if you enjoy fun characters, epic battles, and great character development!
An exciting adventure

So far, I've only read volume 1, but I absolutely love where it is going! Togashi is one of my all-time favorite mangaka, so I knew that it was going to be good, but it blew me away! The sheer character development, in even the first volume, is absolutely immaculate! The concept is one which has been done before, but never to this amazing of results. If you love Hunter x Hunter, and want something a little more gritty, this is the series for you. Definitely recommend.
I love YYH... but...

I love Yu Yu Hakusho, but I think the Anime is better. I love so much about this series. The characters are great and the story is fun. However, the beginning and end of the manga series are a snooze-fest. The first 2 volumes are random ghost stories while Yusuke is still dead (Not a spoiler he dies immediately in the story.) It's a slog to get through the start. It's well known that the end of the series was rushed. That being said I can only judge what we got and not what I wish would have happened. The ending is obviously rushed. The entire last arc is only 2 volumes, the last volume also feels like filler... In a series that was rushed...
I know that that sounds negative... I love this series, in fact it's my favorite anime... Which leads me to my point. I can't really recommend reading this manga series. It's fine, but has some major issues. I really recommend getting the anime instead.
