Great Movie, Dub limited by lack of signs translation.
by Arnoldstrife -
The movie was fantastic! 6/5 stars. The script was great the pace was really really good.
The Dub was also good. However, the lack of a sign translation of the various written stuff was horrible. It was very bad considering for a portion of this movie the main characters communicated via written word that was significate to the plot. The only way to get the signs translated was to enable subtitles. But the subtitles were for the Japanese language version and almost never match what the English dub was saying. It was horribly distracting. This oversight of not including an English language subtitle or just sign subtitle is pretty bad and made watching it purely with the English dub unwatchable.
Buy it, and watch it subbed. Even though the dub was also good, the lack of written sign translation makes it unusable.
Amazing experience

If the original story and artwork don't impress you, the score by RADWIMPS definitely will. Very immersive movie, that I have watched probably too many times now...
Amazing film, beautifully animated, full of emotion
by StephenL
Bar none, one of the greatest films I've ever seen.
Story revolves around 2 teens who trade bodies. It sounds cliche as to be contrived. Boiling it down to such an easy description the problem. Without giving away plotl, and to ensure the film has the impact on you that it should, you should avoid spoilers and jump in.
The animation is incredible. Highly detailed & fluid. The voice acting (only watched Japanese) is full of emotion (coming from someone who can speak/understand Japanese). English language version should be as good.
There are hints that can give it all away, but you won’t likely catch them on first viewing.
Even after knowing the twists, it’s still amazing to watch.
Only go LE if you want the soundtracks. The film is the same in both releases. And amazing regardless.
Buy this. Really.
Mitsuha Makes Me Laugh and Cry
by Josh -
Movie of the year for me. I saw this three times in the theater, both dubbed and subtitled and both versions are great (though I prefer the Japanese language track since it meshes better with the animation and the music). There's a few special features here, including a good 20 minute or so interview with Makoto Shinkai about his influences in creating your name. But the real treat is finally being able to watch this beautiful film at home. I've been waiting months for the blu-ray and it didn't disappoint. The film still looks and sounds amazing, and is consistently a pleasure to watch. Animation tends to touch me far more emotionally than live action and your name. is both so tragic and joyous and cute that it's easily one of my favorite movies ever.
A Must Buy

Stupid Anime, made me cry a little!
When they explain the title of the movie at the end I will grantee your going to be crying. Anything that can evoke that kind of emotion is truly powerful.
A Beautiful Tale Of Two Lives
by ANTHONY -
Going into Your Name I was very skeptical. I thought it would be good, but it was hyped up so much I thought there was no way it could live up to it. Your Name does however. It is a wonderfully crafted tale of two young people who wake up in one another's body and how they figure out how to live. Then it goes beyond that. It is what lies after that pushes it into amazing territory.
A Fun Watch!

I really enjoyed this anime. The story and characters really pulled me into it, I only wished that it was a little longer and delved a little more into their body switching!
Amazing movie that mostly lives up to the hype
by Tempus
This movie was very hyped so I was cautious going in as typically over hyped movies are a let down. Overall I think the movie was highly over hyped yet the visuals, story, and music all combined to make an enjoyable movie experience. I’d say this is one of the best anime movies I’ve seen and is in my top 10. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed if you purchase this movie but we all have different tastes.
A Must-See

This film really is amazing! The art is breath-taking; the music is outstanding; the voice-acting is incredible! I love this movie!
Beautifully Done!
by Leslie -
The price was amazing on it's own and it was shipped pretty quickly and arrived in perfect condition!
The movie itself is utterly breathtaking both in plot and in animation style. I absolutely adore slice of life type stories and this was a perfect mix of that plus unexpected sci-fi. A perfect balance of humor and heartbreak, this had both me and my brother crying for the past four times we've watched it!
Even the dubbed version was remarkable and you could really tell the voice actors cared about portraying the same types of emotion. Of course I felt there were some discrepancies with what the sub and dub translations of certain lines were, but overall both casts did an amazing job in bringing to life a touching story that I can't see getting old any time soon!
Late, but not Forgotten
by Cody -
For how popular this film was when it came out, and the hype it amassed, I'm quite surprised how long it took for me to come around to it. In a way that's for the best because I had no idea what this film would be like going into it. Body switching, romance, and personal growth are abound in this beautifully animated feature.
Because this is a film there are many cute montages of the two main characters living each other's lives, but because of the middle twist and it's eventual fallout it doesn't leave much time to character build in a satisfying way, and you might be left feeling like it needed another twenty minutes or so to really dive into the relationship build up between the two characters.
Other than that small nitpick, and it's understandable considering how much is being put into a two hour film, this movie is fantastic and emotional, and (sniff) bring tissues.
Great...but not quite Masterful
by A.J. -
A great movie, but not quite deserving the title "masterpiece" like 5 Centimeters. The main reason is that a big piece of the story was already used by Hollywood (those of you who have seen The Lake House know what I'm talking about; they just replaced meeting at the lake house with body-swapping), which does take away from its originality. Whether Your Name did it better or not is up for debate.
I had high expectations for this movie which were almost met. The story is very coherent and the animation gorgeously breathtaking, with many of Shinkai's trademarks visible, but it's still not as good as 5 Cm. I think the only thing Your Name did better than it was the ending, though that's part of what makes 5 Cm a masterpiece. The “modernized” characters in Your Name don’t quite feel like his style, but that's the only issue I have with the animation.
I enjoy the movie a lot and don’t regret buying before watching. I would recommend watching first or at least wait until it's on sale to buy.

this movie is super popular for a reason. if you have not seen it yet than you are missing out. blu ray packaging is good also.
Has some flaws, but still a great movie
by Gary -
For this movie, the love story is almost non-existent. As a fan of love stories, I did not think this film was that great in this aspect. Both sub and dub were done very well except the fact that they dubbed the songs too, by a horrible English man who shouldn't be singing, in my opinion. They didn't give credits for the Japanese voice cast at the end, which I thought was very rude. The English cast director took over the voice of the main heroine. She's not bad, but it seems a little conceited.
I watched this movie as a recommendation from my best friend, along with two other titles, Weathering With You and A Silent Voice. I loved Weathering With You a lot more than this one, it's made by the same people.
I believed the story took a lot of imagination, creativity, and was unique, but I don't watch everything ever made. Another review said this a copycat of another film.
Love crosses time, space and a switch of spirits to each others bodies.
by van -
What a great story!
2 people separated by distance who don't even know each other who regularly switch bodies and have to learn about each other without never even having met. As they switch, they have no idea what happened during the switch with their actual bodies which complicates things as they try to find a way to communicate back and forth.
The biggest obstacle is that one is a boy and the other a girl meaning they also have to deal with being a different gender.
This wonderful tale is magical in many ways, with a special twist towards the end of this love story.
The subs are great and true to the story. The music is incredible while the graphics are top notch.
Don't miss out, get and watch it asap; you wont be sorry.
