About Wolf Children Blu-ray/DVD

Wolf Children's Hana was a student before she was a mother. She was bright and pretty, and her future held endless possibilities. Then she met a man, who turned out to be a wolf, and together they built a family. Hana loved her mate fiercely, but fate took him from her, leaving her alone with two unusual kids she didn't know how to raise. Frightened of being discovered, Hana and her wolf children fled to the countryside to build a new life.

Raising her little wild things was an adventure. It left Hana bruised, scratched, exhausted, and joyously overwhelmed as her pups grew stronger and wandered further every day. This is a mother's journey. Teach your children to chase their dreams - and smile through the tears as they disappear into the world in search of who they will become. Hana wasn't always a mother, but it was always what she was meant to be.

An Incredible Story of Familial Bonds

by -

This film is one of the most incredible, beautiful, and heart wrenching works of art I have ever seen. Whether you're into anime or not, anybody should be able to appreciate this fantastic movie. This is a story about love, and familial bonds, and just how strong those forces can be. Don't watch if you aren't prepared to cry like a baby. The animation is stunning. It has that kind of older, hand-drawn feel that we saw a lot of in the 90s, with the high definition that can only come with more recent projects. The soundtrack is fantastic, giving feelings of both elation and devastation when appropriate. Both English and Japanese cast are great!

An All-Time Favorite

by -

I am deeply struck by the integration of nature within many Japanese stories and animations. This is one of my deep favorites (along w/ Grave of the Fireflies) and a must-see. I have seen this in the theater and still purchased the Blu-Ray/DVD. As good a story as you will find.

Where is the box of tissues?

by -

If you couldn't tell by the various awards on the front of the box, this movie is perfection! Who knew something so beautiful could come out of Japan that wasn't Studio Ghibli? This movie is about a mother who raises half-wolf, half-human offspring. The main struggle of the film is whether or not the children will stay as humans, or as wolves. The mother in this piece is badass! She handles problems like they're nothing, and smiles the whole way through. Films need more strong-willed female leads, and this movie definitely delivers! Even the english dub is amazing! If I haven't convinced you already, please go ahead and watch this amazing film, you'll be glad you did!

Definately worth the buy

by -

As everyone else has said this movie is amazing. It has one of the greatest stories outside of a Miyazaki film that I have seen in a long time! Be prepared to cry because you literally wat have these children grow and you feel like you become part of the family in this movie. It achieves great things and the voice acting is on point! It is definately worth buying! A must see from me!

A very touching story beautifully animated and acted out. The visuals and sound are breathtaking, the acting superb and moving. If you don't have a heart then this probably isn't for you but for everyone else this can't come highly recommended enough. This is the anime to show your mother. I did and she loved it!

$16? Buy it for the love story. Buy it for the rain scene. Buy it for the delelmas of raising kids in a tiny apartment. Buy it for the silica gel scene. Buy it for the 'clear another field for the garden' scene. Buy it for the snow scene!!!! Buy it for the fight with a boy scene. Buy it for the stranded at school and this is who I am scene. Call of the Wild

by -

The debut film of Mamoru Hosoda's company Studio Chizu, Wolf Children easily takes its place among his very best work. A touching and deeply-relatable story of motherhood and growing up, the film works on many levels; depending on where you're at in your life, you're sure to find something applicable and heartfelt. Perfectly combining the talents of his remarkable animators, artists, and collaborators, Hosoda crafts a modern-day fable that hits all the right notes and is as emotionally true as it is beautiful to behold. It's the perfect film for converting anime skeptics to believers, and a terrific gift for anyone who loves great movies.

Worth it 100%

by -

A story focused on the struggles of a mother. As the other reviews say the story is excellent as most Hosoda films. Animation is beautiful. Music is amazing. And you can trust RightStuff to get it to you in perfect condition. Like seriously though they really package carefully! I recommend!

One of the greatest films ever put to Animation

by -

Mamoru Hosoda is an extremely profound filmmaker. I've enjoyed a umber of his works, however, Wolf Children is far and away my favorite movie he's ever directed.
A fair warning that there is some "weirdness" or at least what some people would consider to be kind of strange. I find that all aspects of the film are handled with complete maturity and sincerity.
Another concern people have is with films that just try to be sad, which makes them "good". I honestly can't stand these kinds of shows and movies, but Wolf Children does not fall into that pile at all.
To be completely spoiler free: just buy this and watch it. Do yourself a HUGE favor.
