About Witch Hat Atelier Manga Volume 1
Witch Hat Atelier manga volume 1 features story and art by Kamome Shirahama.
In a world where everyone takes wonders like magic spells and dragons for granted, Coco is a girl with a simple dream: She wants to be a witch. But everybody knows magicians are born, not made, and Coco was not born with a gift for magic.
Resigned to her un-magical life, Coco is about to give up on her dream to become a witch…until the day she meets Qifrey, a mysterious, traveling magician. After secretly seeing Qifrey perform magic in a way she’s never seen before, Coco soon learns what everybody “knows” might not be the truth, and discovers that her magical dream may not be as far away as it may seem…Details

It’s magic! Magic! Real magic!

If there is a better illustrated ongoing manga today, I don’t know what it is. Everything Kamome Shirahama puts to the page in this volume looks amazing! Panels flow intuitively, propelling the story forward; characters are distinct and whole. And the depth and beauty of this world is communicated on every page. The gorgeous two page spread that sets up the cliffhanger needs to be a print on my wall now!
Coco’s tragic introduction to the magical world of WHA is a great start! There is a well conceived magic system wrapped in a very familiar and entertaining chosen-one, witch-in-training trope. Highly recommended!

Amazing art coupled with an interesting story about a young girl and her desire to be a witch. I can't wait for more!

All the Good Vibes

I'd heard very good things about this manga, so I decided to give it a go, and it did not disappoint!
Witch Hat Atelier is absolutely magical, and honestly pretty unique to anything I've read recently. The story gives me major Ghibli vibes which I loved. So if you love Ghibli I would definitely give this a go! I also wanna mention that the art style of this series is absolutely stunning!
The actual physical book is also of excellent quality in my opinion. The cover is made of this smooth matte material that feels really nice to the touch. And the size of the book is close to that of the Viz signature editions so slightly larger than your standard manga volume, which again is something I personally really like.
Coco - beware!

Y'all, this manga is so beautiful and delightful! Coco, a young girl in a rural area, is obsessed with magic, but hasn't gotten to see any. One day, her luck turns, and she does! Unfortunately, with this new knowledge she makes a grave mistake. Her life afterward is filled with wonder, but mostly purpose -- she needs to find a way to save her mother.
Some of the scenes are truly breathtaking, and I love the way magic works in this story. I can't wait to read more.
A Magical Adventure
by Howdydo
Love this manga/story! Not only is the artwork lovely and characters compelling, but also I find it awesome how magic has logic behind it (I think of ATLA meets Harry Potter). This magical tale has both whimsy and mystery about learning to solve problems unconventionally & never giving up. Give it a try!
A promising start to a fun fantasy series

I just picked up this first volume by itself to try the series out, but as soon as I finished it I came straight back to order the rest of the volumes! I'm a big fan of Ghibli movies and this definitely reminds me of Howl's Moving Castle so far, in the best way possible. The gorgeous art is enough on its own to justify giving this series a shot, but the worldbuilding is also fascinating so far and I'm loving all the characters - looking forward to see how they grow and develop! The volume itself is also nice quality, with some beautiful color pages included, and arrived in great shape.
One of the best magic manga
by George -
The story is lovely and whimsical, the art is gorgeous, expansive, and detailed, it's a beautiful fantasy story without all the typical, tiring manga tropes. A young girl named Coco wants to learn to use magic and a sorcerer comes along who is reluctant at first, but ends up deciding to teach her alongside three other little girls. They all live together and grow into friends and further into family. Very good innocent story.
