Wave, Listen to Me! manga volume 1 features story and art by Hiroaki Samura the author of Blade of the Immortal.

Minare’s tired of men, she’s tired of work, and she’s tired of being told she’s too old to be single. One night, she gets drunk and unloads onto a kind stranger—but what she doesn’t know is this stranger works in radio, and he wasn’t just listening, he was recording. Hearing her own pitiful rambling broadcast the next day, Minare rushes to the studio and hijacks the mic. Now, for the first time, an entire city will have to listen to one woman’s rage…

An interesting story twist for Samura

by -

Samura has this way with using more realistic, close up drawings of characters when displaying intense emotion or for the sake of the mood, which plays well into the emotional main character, Minare. She's just broken up with her boyfriend and rants to an older man at a bar next to her about all sorts of things. Turns out that it becomes popular enough to be hosted on a radio show and the man also happens to be the producer. He likes her personality and thinks she can make a good host, so Minare has to deal with her newfound popularity while also dealing with the world like she always has.

The premise is good, Samura is a great manga artist, and overall executes the comedy really well that I wouldn't have expected from his grittier Blade of the Immortal. Give this a chance, if you can.
