A beautiful Blu-Ray set, for an equally beautiful anime.

by

This is an anime with some of the best animation I have seen in years. Reflecting that, this limited edition box set for the blu ray is also stunning! The outside looks like the packaging for the letters that Violet types in the anime, and all the extras included fit with that theme. Of course a beautiful anime, is just asking for an artbook to show it off, and this has a great one. This is a great purchase, and if you haven't seen Violet Evergarden before, this a great opportunity to do so.

Beautiful, Sad, but Hopeful

by -

Very beautiful and wrought with melancholy, this anime will leave you with heartache but filled with hope in its wake. Though the main character was a tool of war, her search and yearning to be more "human" and to understand what the last words of her most important person meant is a journey that is worth watching to the end. This limited edition blu ray set is stunning with it's textured slipcover accentuating the painterly images on the box itself, making one of the more beautiful sets Funimation has ever put out. A worthy addition to anyone's collection!

Tragic, uplifting, meaningful, and inspirational series!

One last mission results in Violet's Commanding Officer to state 'particular words' she cannot comprehend in battle. After the war, she is determined to learn the meaning behind the Major's words, and becomes a scribe/writer.

"Violet Evergarden" impacts viewers with numerous emotional narratives I've never seen impremented in such magnitude before. Just about every emotional feeling is brought forth in bold fashion; joy, love, hate, anger, warmth, despair, remorse, sadness, to compassion. It's a journey/discovery of Violet's own innermost feelings that emerge as she types/writes for various clients with related or unparalleled letter requests. The action segments are abundant as well, from her flashbacks as the War Maiden, or literally jumping into a conflict to complete a soldier's letter request, to one last battle alongside the one man who hates Violet with a passion...Captain Diethart was just magnificent!

More than highly recommended...a must have anime!
