The benevolence of an Auto Memory Doll
by MKY -
This movie is showcased in two story arcs, each story is tied/linked to the other as Violet experiences some new feelings on her tasks as a writer.
A great warm-hearted movie, and one that amused me as Violet's straight-laced personality gives the impression to the entire school that she's of 'Royalty' instead of just a tutor in the first story arc. Favorite segment is Violet being given various hairstyles by Amy. Pretty funny!
The focus on Violet/Benedict in the second arc was equally amusing as well; especially, where Benedict blackmails Hodgins for a brand new toy! Favorite segment is when Violet dons on the CH Postal uniform to show someone just how to deliver the mail the only way she knows how...as if on another mission! But it's Benedict that helps the apprentice deliver a letter... a letter that brings good closure for both story arcs. Just an enjoyable movie, and the way it ends in a happy note was a nice touch! Five Stars!

Essentially an extra-long two-part episode, but when it comes to Violet Evergarden that's far from a bad thing. Violet touches the lives of two girls, and surprisingly Benedict is substantially involved in the latter half of the story.
However, some of the quick edits, particularly in the first half, are a little too disorienting. One scene in particular transitioned so suddenly that I was very confused. The series had similar quick cuts, but I was never confused about what was going on. In this movie, the quick cuts were a bit of a problem for me.
The other issue I have is that the romantic subplot and subtext built up in the first half is abruptly dropped shortly before the second half of the story. I wish there had been more of a resolution, regardless of if the pair ended up together or not.
