About Violence Jack Blu-ray

Violence Jack Blu-ray contains episodes 1-3 of the OVA directed by Osamu Kamijō, Ichiro Itano, and Takuya Wada respectively.

After a devastating natural disaster, the Kanto region in Japan is now a wasteland of lawlessness, where the weak are playthings of the strong. Ruled with an iron fist by the Slum King, the people of Kanto have no hope left to them, living at the whims of raiders and bandits. In this hellish world, there is only one man with the power to stand up for the powerless, and his name alone strikes terror into evil hearts--Violence Jack!

Whether he’s saving women from sex camps, protecting the models of Zone C from those who covet their beauty, or exterminating a biker gang bent on destruction; if you oppress the weak, the only thing you can look forward to is a swift death from Jack’s knife! Acclaimed artist and author Go Nagai is famous for pushing the boundaries of animation in Japan, and Violence Jack lives up to that reputation.

Bloody, violent, and with graphic depictions of cannibalism, sex, and other adult themes, it is by no means for kids! Experience the guts and gore of Nagai’s original vision with all three original video animation episodes, uncut and uncensored on Blu Ray for the first time!

Violence Jaunt

by -

Discotek does a fantastic job polishing this fossilized crud from the bygone bubble-era. It's nice to know that there is a company out there with more exuberance presenting dregs than most do for their triple-A releases. "Bad" has never looked this good, and I applaud their effort.

The 3 episodes here oscillate in refinement, but the high-octane one would expect from VIOLENCE JACK stays slow. The violence is too banal to be exciting – you see one flying head you’ve seen them all. It tries to gross you out at points, but it’s hard to look at it and understand as to why. I suppose someone will defend this as "but that's life"...okay, but the fact that a giant man with fangs and a magic knife simply walks into other people's stories, and once the job is finished...strolls away.

If the hero is so bored with what's going on, why should I stick around? There's better brutality to be found from this era.

They don’t make ‘em like this anymore!

This is awesome 90s trash anime. If you grew up in the “japanimation” era of urban vision, media blasters, manga video, and U.S. manga corps you’ll love it. If you want a detailed story with deep characters, this ain’t it.

One a of a kind action anime!

by -

This is one of the most violent, explicit and depraved action anime ever made. If you're a fan of violent anime this title is definitely for you. If not, stay far away from this title.

The story was engaging and very well animated for a title of this genre. The soundtrack also fits the action very well. Episode 2 is the highlight of this 3 OVA series featuring the most depravity by far, all brought to you in an art style reminiscent of Rose of Versailles and Dear Brother.

The Blu-ray release is all you could wish for. Excellent picture quality and sound, uncut and uncensored for the first time ever, and you even have the ability to chose between full screen or wide screen for two of the three episodes. No issues with the subtitles either.

This is the definite release for Violent Jack!
