Ratings & Reviews
This series is one of the best manga I have ever read in English. The artwork is amazing and the story is incredibly compelling. The interesting thing about this series is that you are never sure where the story is going to take you. Don't believe when you hear that this part of the series isn't as good as the first part. The story hasn't changed, there is only less outward violence, especially from the main character. This volume also has another great interview with the series creator and he discusses the themes of violence and what he is trying to use this series to explore. Please buy this series! You will not be disappointed! It is one of the best books in print and needs to be supported. If not enough readers buy this and volume seven, further volumes will not be licensed. We need to support superior and amazing works like this to keep the manga industry rich with adult themes and stories for everyone to enjoy!
The low point of the series.

Nah, this really is the slump period for this series, but do keep buying it anyway because it gets good again. Thorfinn continues to become a more peaceful person, even as chaos descends on the farm from two fronts. Sadly, the part of the story that focuses on the escaped slave just isn't that interesting. Also Thorfinn's character is the exact opposite of who he started out as; he's now a complete pacifist. While that's not necessarily a bad thing it does mean that those like me who fell in love with Thorfinn's character in the first four volumes will struggle to accept who he is now. Similarly, the "new, improved" Canute from volume four is also different, but now he's more corrupt and unlikable. It does get better though.
Exciting, check it out for yourself!

Although the story has dipped in my opinion (only slightly mind you), what with some of the sudden changes that took me off guard, Vinland Saga is still a fantastic read and I'm very happy I found out about it.
This volume still primarily deals with the same themes and setting that the previous volume did but the tension is rising rapidly and I feel that in the next volume the awesomeness that is Vinland Saga will ramp the story back up to what got me hooked in the first place.
I will continue reading and I hope you will too!
quality bang for buck

these are some of the most comfortable yet sturdy hardcover manga editions on the market. the quality of the binding may not be as great as some other HC books, but it makes up for it by being incredibly well priced. also the story and art in which vinland saga hold make it more then worth it to pick up this volume.
