Vinland Saga volume 2 and series review
I greatly enjoyed the author's previous work "Planetes". So I waded into this expecting to be impressed...I am impressed. This work will become among the great manga titles that deal with in this case, a historical period filled with violence and political intrigue. I rank this as an equal to Takehiko Inoue's "Vagabond" series as a visual and literary treat to be savored and no serious manga collector should be without!
More dark entertainment and violence.

If you like the Vikings tv series, or vikings in general, or brooding badasses out for vengeance, or cold remorseless mercenaries, this is a great series. Warning though: this series does change tone over time.
More blood and gore, more spectacular action and clever yet ruthless plans. Thorfinn faces off with one of his most dangerous enemies, we meet the sadest excuse for a prince, and learn some new tidbits about Askeladd.
A Must Read

Vinland Saga has become one of my favorite manga series. The story of hardcore Vikings and a quest for revenge is epic. I can barely put the book down while reading it, but since there are about 500 pages per book, I need a break here and then. Overall Vinland Saga is a manga that everyone must read. It's an awesome story that needs more attention.
