Musashi Meets Farmville

by -

Great stuff ; The pace has continued to slow down and has given us an opportunity to see Musashi's personal growth. I can definitely see this as a cool-off period before things get turnt up. What can really be said about this series other than that it's a masterpiece. Visually stunning and a compelling story that will resonate with generations of readers.

The Best Volume Since 8

by -

This volume is a vast improvement from the last three. I enjoyed it a lot. It's kind of not Inoue's fault that the last couple were so bad because it was just what happened in real life with Musashi and Inoue couldn't avoid it.
This part also seems like it would be boring, but he tells it in an interesting and engaging way. He did the opposite with volume 9, as it was very interesting material, but he presented it in a boring way. Volume 12 is an example of what to do right with slow material. Inoue shines narratively with this volume.
However, the art got less consistent. In past volumes, there was outstanding art every panel (except the few purposefully tiny arts, like when people look bashful and whatever), but in volume 12 there is a lot of mediocre art. There are still masterful panels like the past volumes, but there are not as many as before. This started to show in volume 10, like with the art featured on the back cover of Takuan, but it became really apparent in volume 12.
