Uzumaki 3 in 1 Deluxe Edition Manga (Hardcover)
About Uzumaki 3 in 1 Deluxe Edition Manga (Hardcover)
This deluxe edition of Uzumaki collects volumes 1-3 in omnibus format and features story and art by Junji Ito.
Kurozu-cho, a small fog-bound town on the coast of Japan, is cursed. According to Shuichi Saito, the withdrawn boyfriend of teenager Kirie Goshima, their town is haunted not by a person or being but by a pattern: uzumaki, the spiral, the hypnotic secret shape of the world.
It manifests itself in everything from seashells and whirlpools in water to the spiral marks on people's bodies, the insane obsessions of Shuichi's father and the voice from the cochlea in our inner ear. As the madness spreads, the inhabitants of Kurozu-cho are pulled ever deeper into a whirlpool from which there is no return!

Splendidly terrifying.

This is a wonderful edition to any horror collection, and a beautiful peace even for non-horror fans. The art style is very different from contemporary manga and this volume captures all of Junji Ito's brilliance.

To be honest, I was dissapointed with Uzumaki, although I may have gone in with the wrong expectations. Without spoiling anything, I think I can say that if you're looking for something like Tokyo Ghoul or Parasyte this isn't what you're looking for, it's not psychological like that, nor does it have a tremendously dynamic plot. It's more like going to a haunted house type of horror than a horror thriller that I was used to I guess.
You will never look at spirals the same.

Uzumaki is a wonderful, gross-out horror manga. The art is amazing, all the detail he puts into every single spiral. It's so gorgeous, and haunting at the same time. I don't want to spoil anything, but if you're into horror manga and beautiful/creepy art this is definitely for you!
I have the original 3-volume series, so I really need a copy of this one for the color pages. :D
Also! I really don't like slugs, and snails are pretty similar, so there were several scenes in here that made me a little sick to my stomach. If you happen to have a fear of them, I suggest staying away. Or you'll be haunted by the images, for a very long time. DX
Insanely Incredible

This is one manga where the artwork continues to drag you in deeper and deeper into the madness that no one has a way to cure. Each panel will make you wanting to see where chapter will take you next
Good Until It Wasnt Good

Uzuamki is a insanely twisted and weird tied with a really good story. But I feel like the first volume was scary and gave me that horror feeling, while the other two volumes were not at all scary just weird and made the rest of the story super random.
o(>ω<)o Love Classic Horror Manga

I love Junji's horror works so I realy love this book. If you are a lover of the classic horror manga as I'm, this manga should be part of your collection as well as each piece by Junji Ito.
Both the cover, the paper and the seams of the book are of great quality.
For those who aren't familiar with this type of manga are basically tales of horror likes Tale From The Crypt but whit way more squirm-inducing surrealism and more interesting...
P.D.
Love the card with the photo of the RightStuf team, now it's my new bookmark.
Great story + Great Art + High Quality Release = 5/5

This is one of my personal favorite mangas and in my opinion Junji Ito's best work. Ito's great artwork is on full display in this release. I was very impressed with the quality of this release, it is hardcover which is rare for manga in my experience. The pages are large and are made of high quality material.
In terms of the content of the manga, the story reminded me a lot of a Stephen King novel. This definitely has a better story and writing than any other horror manga I have read. I also absolutely love Ito's art style, especially in Uzumaki. The spiral theme was really interesting. Definitely a must read for any horror fans.
A Solid Spiral of Obsession
by Steve
Uzumaki was the first piece of Junji Ito's writing I ever read, and it was a strong introduction.
It's not perfect. The main through-line of plot is for the most part loosely tied together by vignettes largely unrelated except for the spiral motif, which is used to varying degrees of effectiveness depending on the story.
It'll help if you go in ready to flex your suspension of disbelief. A lot of events never have their "how" or "why" explained, scary, messed-up events just keep happening one after another and you kinda just have to go along for the ride.
That said, once it all wraps up, it's a sufficiently chilling conclusion. And it must be said that Ito's artwork is strong and grotesquely beautiful from start to finish.
Would recommend this classic to anyone 🔥

This manga still is my favorite Ito work it’s just so good the drawings the story is wacky and fun it’s just a really fun story and also that one review talkin abt Tokyo goul and stuff imo is dumb junji ito is much different than that 🤦♂️ But yes I do recommend if you wanna have fun or like good horror and good story
An Ito classic for a reason
by Marissa -
Art: amazing.
Story: Creative.
Ending: Actually satisfying in my opinion!
For any stories like these that get soo out of this world in terms of what's happening, the very end is almost always a let out. Horrors even more so. But Ito really pulled this one off. I guess if I had to criticize anything it would be that the characters stuck around in that town for SO LONG even after the protag's boyfriend said multiple times they should just leeeeave
A fascinating story full of bizarre horrors
by Daniel -
First off, the book itself is a great hardcover. I really like both the cover and the spine and it looks great on the shelf.
The story is unlike anything I have read before. It starts off with episodic chapters, each its own little story, but the stories slowly come together and the latter half of the book focuses on a single plot line.
The art really is what Uzumaki is about. The weird and grotesque horrors depicted in the manga really make it uncomfortable to read. Junji Ito combines the disturbing images with his crazy ideas to create a horror story that will make you squirm in your seat. It might not be for everyone, but I highly recommend you check it out.
Amazing Story!

I love Junji Ito's stories and this one did not disappoint! I'm used to reading his short stories, so I wasn't sure if I would like this but I was worried for nothing! This story was so compelling to read, I found myself reading this in one day! Junji Ito's art style is so unique and the different ways he drew the spirals were brilliant! There were a lot of gross scenes but there was one that stuck to me. One word...snail...if you read it you know. If you want to know then you should definitely read this!
The Spiral will consume you!

I love this manga so much. It's darkly disturbing and wonderfully captivating. I am so excited to have a physical copy of it. I highly recommend this and everything by Junji Ito!
