Urusei Yatsura TV Series Part 1 Blu-ray
About Urusei Yatsura TV Series Part 1 Blu-ray
Urusei Yatsura TV Series Part 1 contains episodes 1-54 of the 1981 anime directed by Mamoru Oshii.
GRAB HER BY THE HORNS AND SHE JUST MIGHT BECOME YOUR DARLING! THE ORIGINAL ANIME ADAPTATION OF THE CLASSIC ROMANTIC COMEDY SERIES!
It all begins when aliens invade and threaten to conquer the Earth! However, one member of the human race is chosen at random to duel the aliens and save the planet: Ataru Moroboshi, a lecherous slacker from Tomobiki High School who begrudgingly participates. All he has to do? Play a game of tag and catch Lum — the beautiful alien princess in a tiger-stripe bikini — by the horns. Unfortunately for Ataru, it’s not so simple, since Lum can fly and deliver electric shocks! Perseverance pays off, but once he catches her, Ataru experiences another shock: He’s now Lum’s betrothed “darling” and she isn’t going back to her home planet anytime soon! What follows is a courtship like no other, with all the crazy denizens of Tomobiki Town crossing paths with the most obnoxious aliens you’ll ever meet! Daring, zany, yet somehow heartwarming, Urusei Yatsura is a boy-meets-girl match made in heaven, as the classic harem comedy that started them all finally comes to Blu-ray in this five-disc collection containing the first 54 episodes!

An Open Invitation...to Your Anime Collection!
by Kamen Librarian -
Chances are, if you're looking at this then you've already made your decision as to whether you want to purchase this or not. I'm simply here to tell you that this is not only a good way to collect a classic anime, it's an economical way to collect a classic. The price for this collection on Righstuf comes out to $1 an episode. Considering the sheer entertainment Rumiko Takahashi's classic still holds, then this is a no-brainer.
I could go on about Discotek's always excellent video work, but I'm running out of finding ways to explain how good a job their staff does. This series has never looked better. How 'bout that?
If you're a romcom/slice-of-life/wacky-hijinks/fanservice/oldschool/anything-in-between fan, then you need this in your library.
Worth The Money!!

One of the best Animes of the 1980s. Truly a classic that should be remembered and re-watched. This set is amazing. I never thought I would see urusei yatsura in high definition. Definitely an upgrade to the previous release in America by amineigo.
A anime comedy classic.

Man this release is a great treat.
This was a blind buy for me as i've wanted to watch the Urusei Yatsura series ever since i heard Mamoru Oshii of all people directed the first half of the TV series.
Let me just say this, for what it's worth Discotek does it again and delivers.
I know everybody and their mother knows how good they are with their releases but my god, i just gotta say it again, they are what Criterion is to Film and Arthouse buffs but to your anime fan, new or old they've always got something.
These first two releases so far have been pretty straightforward, being upscaled, looking and sounding good and giving us an overdue release not scattered across multiple DVDs.
For legal reasons it would seem they weren't allowed to include any extras sadly, but for what it's worth the presentation alone makes up for it.
If you're a fan of chaotic, wacky and just overall funny anime give this one a shot. It's really impressive.
