About The Yakuza's Guide to Babysitting Manga Volume 1

The Yakuza's Guide to Babysitting manga volume 1 features story and art by Tsukiya.

Kirishima Tooru is the right-hand man of the Sakuragi crime family. For him, the job is a perfect excuse to let his violent instincts run wild, earning him the nickname “the Demon of Sakuragi”. It seems like nothing will stand in the way of his vicious nature. But then one day, he receives an assignment like never before from the boss—babysitting his daughter! This is the heartwarming (or is it bloodcurdling?) story of a little girl and her yakuza caretaker!

A wonderful sweet discovery!

If you love bad boys with a heart then this one's definitely a winner. The story is focused, characters you could easily invest in, and great artwork. It's incredibly cute without being preachy. There is some violence as expected in a Yakuza life but the story is really focused on the hero's personal growth as he interacts with his young impressionable ward. The Yakuza's Guide to Babysitting is not exactly like the more technical The Way of the Househusband storyline. This has a more awkward but endearing wholesome approach to it.

Feel-good, Comedic, and Heartfelt. Can't wait for Volume 2!

by -

I bought this book on a whim, and I'm so glad I did! I unboxed it when it arrived with my other manga and started reading the first few pages just to catch a glimpse of it, and ended up reading the whole thing right then and there.

This is a sweet story about a man who works for the yakuza and his misadventures babysitting his boss' daughter. The way their relationship develops, from him being a brutal, flippant yakuza and her being a near-silent, shy girl to him growing softer and her starting to open up and become attached to him is so heartwarming. The supporting cast is also really endearing!

If you're looking for a feel-good, comedic, heartfelt story about a man learning how to be a father figure and his pseudo-daughter coming out of her shell, this is a great book. I didn't want it to end and was disappointed to find the second volume's physical release hasn't come out yet. I'm going to be ordering it immediately!
