Disney Ruins Yet Another Ghibli Film Again.
by TrueGhibliFan
The dubbing of ARRIETTY is atrocious, ,simply awful from top to bottom, wasting voice talent everywhere and butchering both the script and lead roles. We don't need squeaky-voiced Disney Channel celebrities voicing the leads, we want REAL voice actors! The UK dub is SOOOOO much better, but inferior to Streamline's own dubs of Ghibli. Why we couldn't have that version instead of this piss-poor Disney bastardization is beyond me. Shame on Gkids for not allowing it. Anyway, watch ARRIETTY only in Japanese or don't bother viewing it at all. But AVOID THE DISNEY DUB. Period.
Disney's dub is in no way bad. Flawed, yes, but still good.

To any "true fans" who insist on slamming Disney's dub jobs of these movies: if you hate them, fine, but don't go around giving the movies bad ratings because of them. Just watch them in Japanese and let others decide how they want to view the films. No need to put down others for having a differing opinion.
I haven't seen the UK dub, only the Japanese version and the Disney dub. I prefer the former, but I didn't find the latter to be bad in any way. I do have a few minor quibbles -- David Henrie's miscast, but like Pazu and Sheeta in Disney's dub of CASTLE IN THE SKY, his turn is at least adequate. Bridget Mendler is fine as Arrietty, and Carol Burnett is great as Hara. I don't particularly like the second song in the credits, though.
Elsewise, ARRIETTY's fine either way; pick one version and enjoy. Say what you will about Disney, but their dubs have not been bad to my ears, and this is no different.
Gorgeous animation and very imaginative

This is an excellent movie. Very kid-friendly as well. I was hoping for more of that Ghibli magic, and got it.
I've only seen the dub and it's fine? Not sure what the other reviewers are on about.
