Surprisingly good!

by -

I had mixed feelings about the manga, so I went into this with fairly low expectations. It was better than I expected! I actually liked it more than the manga, which is something I can almost never say.

The translation was smooth and readable. The story's flow could be a little better, but I liked Sei, I enjoyed the other characters' efforts to support her and make her happy (even if it was at least a little for selfish reasons), and the romance aspect was really nice. I wish isekai novels with female protagonists would quit it with the "no one knew how to season food, use local ingredients, or make decent personal hygiene products before the heroine arrived" stuff, but most of it was still fun, and the potion-making and gem-enchanting was interesting.

Good Story, Bad Editing

by -

The premise was very interesting. I watched the anime before purchasing the light novels. I very much enjoyed the interactions between Sei and the support characters, and how her character developed in this volume. Although Sei was surrounded by beautiful men, they are all respectful and kind towards her, and only one man romantically pursues her.

I took off 2 stars because there were many grammatical and spelling errors, and the editing and translation was not very good. The translator inserted words to make the novel appear more "intelligent", but to me it sounded like they used a thesaurus. Some chapters were first POV, Sei spoke, and preferred to be spoken to, informally. So to add words normally not used in Sei's everyday language, was freakishly annoying and inconsistent. It shows the lack of experience from the editing team.

I know these are not the writer's fault, and so I will continue to support them.
