I would highly reccomend getting this.

I fell in love with this book and this series.

There is also a manga that is worth checking out if you enjoyed this book.

If you enjoy stories about otakus stuck in a medieval fantasy world then definitely give this book a try.

Amazing novel!

by -

My all time favorite light novel. At first, I thought the novel would just follow the typical cliche of "guy gets transferred into new world and becomes extremely overpowered and he meets a ton of girls," but no. Well, yes, it does kind of follow that trope, but it is executed brilliantly. Every character in the novel is so beautifully well-written that they simply cannot be forgotten. So, all in all, if you are looking for something like Log Horizon or Sword Art Online, this is definitely something you should pick up and read.

Favorite light novel

by

The rising of the shield hero is about four heroes being summon to another world to fight off the waves of destructions with four legendary weapons the sword, spear, bow, and shield our main character Nafoumi itwatani is one these people summoned to another world and is chosen to fight for the world with a shield however Nafoumi will later see that being summon to another world would not always mean you get glory and praise as he is constantly getting betrayed and dissed for him being the shield hero. This is my favorite light novel since the main starts off weak and hated and grows up to be someone you can be fond of, the monsters stay face aren't the coolest things in the world to star off with but later improves however, the story is fairly interesting and gets you wanting more. It explains more than the manga. Hope we can get an anime.

Summoned to Another World...but this is (Another) the Real World!

by -

The tale & imagery are wonderful with just enough reality to remind you this isn't a game here! Summoned to another world to be a Hero...it's not fun if there are rotten types in the new world as bad as the heirs to a powerful kingdom who ruined the founders' hard work. If you were ever double-crossed...try to keep calm, it still a story in your hands.

A good book harmed by a bad release

by

The story itself is an easy 5, but this One Peace release is a depressingly bad way to read it. Maybe they're in dire need of an editor, but you can expect grammatical errors and mistakes galore.

I would really recommended holding out hope for a reprint with fixes, but seeing as they're still there in volume 5 I expect to see them to the end.

Awesome Novel

by

Love it, i watched the Anime before reading this. I still loved it as we dive a little bit deeper into the story that the anime can't fully explain.

Very good

Naofumi and Raphtalias interactions with one another are very fun to watch unfold especially once you read Raph's point of view and the chapter before the epilogue made me want to cry my reasoning for giving it 4 stars and not 5 is due to the translation it doesn't personally bug me but many have complained and it would feel wrong to pretend it doesn't exist

The misogyny ruins this

by

Isekai fantasy in which the protagonist is badly betrayed early on, loses his trust in everyone around him, and tries to focus on just surviving and hopefully getting back to his own world.

Raphtalia is a decent character, the shield stuff is mildly interesting, and so far the pacing is okay. I'd have liked this a lot more if Naofumi hadn't been so massively misogynistic. One woman betrays him, and suddenly the entire gender is trash (even though a bunch of men also helped throw him under the bus). Then it takes him no time at all to justify turning to slave ownership to solve his problems. And because it's all written in the first person, readers have to live in this horrible protagonist's head.

This book has a great story that really pulls you in. It sets up an engaging story has me bingeing the novels. I'm not big into isekais but I really enjoyed this one.

great story

I loved the anime and decided to give the light novel a try as well. The story was very cool and I enjoyed trying this out in a light novel format in addition to the anime. The book definitely needed some help with editing but I am hoping that they improve the further along they go. I have read a few other light novel series and they seemed to get better each volume.
