About The Promised Neverland Blu-ray

The Promised Neverland contains episodes 1-12 of the anime directed by Mamoru Kanbe and includes a Deluxe Booklet.

"Fight your destiny in this world."

As much as the children love her, she is not their mother. Although they live together, they are not related either. Grace Field House is where children without parents are taken in. An irreplaceable home for the 38 children that all live happily every day, even if they were strangers at first. However, the happy days at Grace Field House ended abruptly. In truth, their home is a farm, and the children are just human meat, food for the demons. Meanwhile, the Mom they love is a watchdog.

"I don't want any more of my family to die!"

With that one wish, Emma and the other children begin to gradually uncover the truths behind their lives. It's demon versus children, with the children attempting to escape their destiny.

Nice!

I’m rather enjoying this Blu-ray set. Although the price is too much, I saved up and the purchase was worth it. There’s finally a legal way to watch the English dub as well. My only minor disappointment might be the lack of footage from the promised Neverland panel at anime expo 2019, aside from the mix-up video. (Someday, I’ll meet those actresses in person...) My favorite part of the entire set is definitely the interview booklet, where the voice actresses gives interesting responses to questions. Those were truly an enjoyable read. Overall, I’ll be back for season two and likely snatch its next release.

Excellent Adaptation of an Excellent Manga

by -

The Promised Neverland was one of the best anime released not just in the Winter Season of 2019, but for 2019 as a whole. The animation takes the airy fantasy of Posuka Demizu's art and combines it with a more realistic style for amazing movement.

The voice acting in both the English and Japanese is remarkable, and makes the characters and story come so much more alive than from the manga pages. It's a very tense drama that keeps the view guessing all the way to the end, and sets up a fantastic ending that will leave the viewer wanting more.

As for the packaging, the "cover" for the combined Blu-ray and art book has an amazing piece of artwork and is smooth to touch. The small art book itself is nice as well, with interesting illustrations such as an interior layout of Grace Field House.

While the price is understandably high compared to most anime Blu-ray prices, I would recommend anyone who loves shonen-style stories to get it immediately. 10/10, amazing series.

A Lazy Release from Aniplex

by -

To start, I have to say this is NOT a review of the show, but of the release from Aniplex itself.
For the price: $130, this set was made lazily.
-The slip box, while really pretty to look at, is made rather flimsy compared to other chipboard boxes that I've owned.
-The case holding the discs creaks anytime you open it and the plastic holding the discs itself will likely break if you don't handle it with a lot of care.
I'm not a huge fan of Artbooks, but this one was made well, showing essentially all of the kids in the orphanage. The book is really detailed and fun to look at if that is your thing.
The presentation on Blu Ray looks great. There's a bit of an upgrade compared to streaming it.
Should you buy this? If you're like me and love the show and want to own it for your collection, and IF you're willing to part with $130 despite the flaws, then yes. There is a lot of room for improvement and hopefully Aniplex does better with the second season.
