About The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Seasons 1 and 2 DVD

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya contains episodes 1-28.

Kyon is a cynical and sarcastic teenager. The first day of his first year of high school is filled with hopes of a normal school experience hopes that are immediately dashed after meeting the beautiful and eccentric Haruhi Suzumiya. Haruhi is athletic, brilliant, and completely bored with life. At Kyon's accidental suggestion, she decides to create her own club dedicated to finding and observing life's oddities like the aliens, espers, and time travelers she believes walk among normal people. Now, Kyon and a ragtag group of recruits are Haruhi's right-hand men in the newly formed SOS Brigade. But all is not what it seems. The quiet bookworm? Alien. The busty sophomore? Time-traveler. The handsome transfer student? ESPer. And the biggest surprise? They're all there because Haruhi herself has the ability to reshape the world as she sees fit. Maybe Kyon should have joined the literature club.

The Glee of Haruhi Suzmiya

by -

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is a classic anime considered by many to be one of the few shows anyone must watch regardless of their preferred genre of anime. Unlike other classic anime, the reason for its status is simple it's really good.

I could go on and on about its many merits and rare (but present) flaws, but this review is meant for the DVD release, not the show. To put it simply the show is fantastic and essential viewing for anime fans. Now to answer if this release is worth buying.

The short answer is yes. It's not of the greatest quality, but like most Funimation releases it's fairly good. There's no issue with the packaging. So that brings us to the main thing most collectors care about, extras. Which this release does not lack. With over an hour of extras, this release delivers with content any Haruhi fan will gobble up.

This is another strong release from Funimation of an anime classic that's worth the price.
