First let me state I haven't read the yen press english version yet, but will get it as soon as it comes out.

I love the setting for this book. I find it fascinating how they combined magic and technology. The story can be a little hard to follow due to all the terms, but if you can remember/understand them and you like a futuristic/magic theme then I would recommend giving this a try.

Also if you like the anime that was based off of this then the novels are better since they give more detail and backstory. I believe this first novel will cover the first 3 or 4 episodes in the anime.

Review of Yen Press Version

by -

I just finish reading the Yen Press version the other day and thought I would share my thoughts about it with you the community.

Yen press did a decent translation of this novel. It is disappointing that it took so much longer to come out than original planned though.

The novel reads fairly well for english, but there are a few sentences throughout the novel and a few word choices that might throw a reader off bit for a moment especially if you had read the japanese or a fan translation.

The primary examples would be when they describe a bench the main character was going to sit on they said for three meaning a three person bench instead of x said on a three person bench. They also used the word broom to describe the devices that the magicians use throughout the story here and there instead of using a more technical term magical assist device.

Overall it was well done and I enjoyed reading it in the official english translation.
