About The Girl From the Other Side Siuil a Run Deluxe Edition Manga Omnibus Volume 1 (Hardcover)

The Girl From the Other Side: Siúil, a Rún Deluxe Edition Manga Omnibus Volume 1 contains volumes 1-3 in an oversized bookshelf hardcover format and features story and art by Nagabe.

In a land far away, there were two kingdoms: the Outside, where twisted beasts roamed that could curse with a touch, and the Inside, where humans lived in safety and peace. The girl and the beast should never have met, but when they do, a quiet fairy tale begins. This is the story of two people--one human, one inhuman--who linger in the hazy twilight that separates night from day.

Nagabe’s haunting, bestselling manga series has captivated critics and general audiences from its debut to its conclusion, inspiring an animated short film and a successful crowdfunding campaign for a feature-length anime. Now enjoy the original manga tale in a series of four gorgeous, deluxe hardcovers containing the complete series, color inserts, and exclusive covers from Nagabe that will cast their magic over any bookshelf.

Very nice high quality omnibus!

by -

This edition is so elegant and looks amazing on a bookshelf! It is hardcover and wrapped in faux leather with gold foil embossing. Even the spine of the manga is pretty (reminding me of an antique book's spine). Opening the manga, the endpapers have this pretty little flower crown design. If you look closely, you'll notice that the flower crown is wilting as it goes on. The small touches of the design are well thought out!

The paper quality is also impressive. I don't like most paper used in omnibuses (like VIZBIG omnibuses) because it reflects light easily (making it hard to read) and the plastic coating doesn't feel nice as you turn the page.

However, the paper used in this edition of The Girl from the Other Side is much better! It is whiter than a regular manga's pages, but not the bright white of most VIZBIG. But the paper also doesn't have a plastic feel to it. It feels like the paper used in a regular manga, which I prefer!

Incredible Presentation of a Fun Series

by -

Blown away by the quality of this hardcover edition. I have never seen a manga or a comic book presented so beautifully. Outstanding presentation is also seen inside the pages, with some artwork shown in full color, although most of the pages are presented appropriately in black and white. I can't praise this edition enough; the way the book was bound, it feels like something out of the series.

I read the series when it was released in paperback; that release was also well handled. Regarding the series' story, it's a bit of dark fantasy with a wholesome father-daughter dynamic. Overall I enjoyed the series. Its ending left me wanting more. I can see other people being a little disappointed by how it ends, but I found the journey very interesting. The author Nagabe's unique art style matches the series' tone well. On very few occasions I found the paneling to be a little difficult to determine what was happening. Overall, I enjoyed the artwork and story
