About The Case of Hana & Alice Blu-ray

The Case of Hana & Alice is an anime film directed by Shunji Iwai, the writer of Fireworks.

When Alice transfers to a new school, she hears an urban legend about a student who disappeared and is suspected to have been killed. Alice discovers that she lives next door to his former house, now occupied by reclusive classmate Hana. Hana and Alice investigate this “murder case”, but find their lack of detective skills an obstacle, in this unusual and charming film, in which a mystery ultimately gives way to a wonderfully nuanced story of friendship.

Adventure, Friendship, Loyalty And More! A Must See!

by

This movie is thought-provoking entertainment from beginning to end. The characters are not one-dimensional but are well thought out. Each one has his/her own personality and quirks and you get to see how they interact with each other as the story progresses. Five stars out of five in my own personal opinion.

great movie

A really in depth movie with great characters.

Great looking movie with an okay plot

by

Hana & Alice was an interesting movie but I did have some faults with it. First off, this is a very good looking movie. I love the rotoscope animation and the attention to detail these watercolor backdrops have. The different camera angles and shots gives this movie quite a unique feel compared to other anime films. And the music is simple and quaint, sort of Ghibli-esque. Then there’s the plot, which is kinda all over the place. The characters are simple and interesting, but their motives can be a bit hazy. Like why are they suddenly friendly with this character or I feel like these characters would act differently there. It’s like I had missed something. It does have noteworthy slow paced moments, but there’s also stuff that happens that goes nowhere. It’s like a lot of ideas put together and makes it one of those movies where the main focus is these 2 characters and how they deal with these events. By the end, it wasn’t bad, but I would’ve like a more strait plot.
