Final volume, but no closure

by -

I was surprised to see this was the final volume when I got it in the mail (pre-ordered but came early!). I have followed this series for a long time and so I wanted to see what happens to Yuki and Luka and all the rest of the characters. Unfortunately this final volume doesn't provide any real answers. The author states in the afterword that its the end of the 3rd arc, but that writing the series has been too much work for her and so this is the final volume. In other words, there is no conclusion. There are some more betrayals (and flip flopping of enemies and friends). But overall it felt very incomplete and unsatisfactory.

Not mindblowing but definitely worth adding to your collection

If you're a fan of this series then you'll definitely want to purchase this volume. Yes it's not a definitive ending as we might have liked but we get to know what happened all those years ago, find about Yomi, Reiga and Takashiro. Good guys become bad and vice versa. I know many will be unhappy but if you read this several times you'll find you can accept this ending. Having said that Ms. Odagiri herself speaks of her wish for more from this fascinating collection of characters and does state that it's not a definite goodbye. She only says it's for now in her afterword so I'm hopeful that at some point this story will continue in one way or another.
