Unabated Excellence

by -

Issue 02 of 'The Ancient Magus' Bride' continues to submerge you into its story and characters, with artwork that makes you long for larger pages to more fully savor it. Yamazaki-sensei continues from his cliffhanger from 01,and by the time the last page comes up,leaves us with another 'I can't wait for the next installment!' high, but not before giving us more glimpses of Chise and Elias' pasts,as well as new characters that may be familiar to anyone even casually aware of English folklore. This manga is not a 'one-hit wonder'--02 is every bit as stirring as 01. A Great Read for anyone who likes well-thought out fairy-tale fantasy.

Amazing and Addictive

by -

If you're not reading this series, then you are seriously missing out on something magical, something sweet, and also something addicting.

The Ancient Magus' Bride will pull you into a world, where magic is real, where it's beautiful but also dangerous. Join Elias and Chise, in this modern day fairytale.

This book is captivating as you follow Chise as she unravels what exactly happened in the Cat King's town. It continues from the cliffhanger from the last book, and if you were shocked from book 1 and couldn't wait to get your hands on book 2 well then... Let's just say you better add book 3 to your cart as well.

The gorgeous artwork really brings the pages of this series to life.

An excellent continuation from a strong start

by -

The Second Volume of the Ancient Magus' Bride picks up where the first volume left off and ties up the story arc opened at the end of volume one before transitioning into the next major story arc. The volume continues to explore the nature of fae and magic as well as expanding on the somewhat unusual, but growing relationship between Chise and Elias.
Overall it seems to maintain the quality and tone of the first volume very well, a good thing in my opinion.
If I were to criticize anything, it would be that, once again, we end the volume in the middle of a story arc, which makes me fearful that all the volumes will end in a similar fashion. Whether that is a good or bad thing is up to personal preference.

gets even better

the story continues as Chise learns more about herself and connects to Ainsworth as he learns more about human's. I want more of Ainsworth's history. How he was born or made. If he can save Chise or not. I want more and more.

More world building and character development

by -

Yamazaki has done it again with volume 2. She brings in more English/Celtic/Gaelic lore into the story while exploring the two main characters Chise and Elias. While there isn't much on romance which is fine since it replaces with Chise and Elias relationship. Both are exploring and getting to know each other. Chise is learning and slowly accepting that people do love and value her. While Elias is learning what it means to be human. Both are learning from each other and I love that.
