Refreshing new story in the Ancient Magus Bride universe

With the current arc of the main series becoming a bit slow, I'm very glad that new spin-offs of The Ancient Magus Bride are being released. The first volume of Jack Flash has all the wonder and magic of its parent series combined with the action and intrigue of a good detective story. Jack herself is immediately likable: her coolness and confidence as an action heroine, her geekiness, and her sweet relationship with her brother endeared her to me from the get-go.
This first volume should be friendly for both existing fans of The Ancient Magus Bride and for those who are completely new to the world. While a couple of characters and mentions of events from the main series do show up, they are very minor and shouldn't confuse anyone who is unfamiliar with the original series.
