A must read Manga you need in your collection.

by -

Tekkon Kinkreet is the story of two young boys, (Black & White), who are both homeless, and live together in the city. Because White is the younger of the two, Black takes care of him like an older brother. Basically they run around causing havoc to anyone unfortunate enough to be caught in their path.

Without giving anything away, the story is incredibly moving. The reason you feel so much for these characters is not because they are homeless, it's more about the bond the two boys share. Be aware though that the manga kinda goes off the rails near the end. You have to read incredibly slow near the end, and even then, the ending is kinda up to your interpretation. I personally love that, when a manga makes me think about for days after I read it, but I know it may be a negative for some.

Overall, this is a pretty amazing story, and I do not say that often.

One Of The Greatest Manga I've Ever Read

by -

I'm already a sucker for duo's in manga (Gon & Killua, Joestar & Zeppeli, Guts & Griffith) so I was sold on the premise of this series alone. Two orphaned kids roaming the streets of a city that, in their eyes, they rule and protect. There's so many ups and downs between the characters in this story that by the end you're rooting for the ones that were seen as the antagonists in the beginning.

The art may be hit or miss for some, but I loved it right off the bat. Matsumoto's style is unlike anything you've seen in any medium. I'm so glad that we keep getting more and more of his works in English, and I can't recommend Tekkon Kinkreet enough as a starting point to get into his collection of *muah* masta'pieces.
