About Tamako Market Blu-ray

This Tamako Market collection contains episodes 1-12.

Tamako knows all about mochi, the traditional Japanese desert treats. When she's not attending school, she even invents new flavors and varieties for her family's mochi shop. Growing up, on the other hand, is something that she's still trying to find the right recipe for. With the help of her best friends Kanna and Midori, Tamako's determined to make the best of things, but it's complicated. Especially when it comes to her relationship with her best BOY friend Mochizo, whose family runs a rival mochi shop. And lately, Midori's been feeling a little odd about her feelings towards Tamako as well.

And what's with up with that strange bird fluttering around, the one that speaks fluent Japanese? It's all very overwhelming, but at least there's one thing Tamako can count on: whether her day's been good or bad, there'll always be something wonderful at the end of every adventure when she takes a walk through Tamako Market!

Not KyoAni's best, but still really good

Basically Tamako is a young girl who lives in a a mochi shop (basically a sweet Japanese snack make from rice, they are sticky and chewy and pretty good if you ever get the chance to try one), and her childhood friend (read: love interest) live across the street in a rival mochi shop. Anyway, they are both kind of clueless and innocent in typical anime fashion, then basically a talking bird shows up, who is a messenger from some...tropical place...full of brown people who is looking for a bride for the prince. Obviously it has to be Tamako and then antics ensure. Also his name basically means "bad tasting mochi" so you can tell the wackiness never stops. The romantic subplot takes a back story to the usual bit about finding yourself and trying your best. It's fun. There are cute girls. An easy watch.
Afterwards, I would recommend you track down "Tamako Love Story" which is a full length movie that continues/finishes the story.

Tamako Love Story… It brings the mochi from Tamako Market to Market

This series should be watched with the conclusion Tamako Market Love Story movie.
Disclaimer: I don’t like Slice of Life anime. Slice of Life fans may see easy 4/5 instead of my rating…

Own, Online Viewing, or Evade: This show is worth Online Viewing.
Overall Rating 2.5/5 [rounded to 3]
This show follows life of Tamako and a bit about Mochizo, a guy who his her childhood friend and neighbor. The tv series, Tamako Market, builds Tamako’s world as a cheerful girl that really shines. Watch the theme song, that’s Tamako. The show builds a bit but ends talking about the purpose of the talking bird. But that ends in… who cares…
Tamako Love Story really puts a period on the series. The romance was the plot. That’s not why I watch anime. That’s not the Market for me…

Theme Songs 5/5
This opening was so cheer-filled and sweet… IT was... GREAT!!
Ending 4/5
I'm not so much a romantic… But, I did wonder which way the show would go. The ending of the movie ended the show well enough.
