Just... alright.

I buy every yuri book that comes out to show my support for the genre. That said, not all of them are great. Most are what I expect and some are even better. And then you get a few like this one. The art is great. I just didn't like many of the stories. This one seemed like it was full of "filler" stories. Will that stop me from buying Syrup 2? Not at all. But if you're not made of money and you are choosing which yuri title to buy, I'd recommend putting this one low on your priority list. If you do buy it, I'm sure you'll enjoy it, but I really enjoy Elcair series more.

Got this during a yuri binge shopping trip. The art on the cover I thought was from a story I had read a couple years ago and thought would be in this book, it wasn’t. Which is a shame because that story was pretty good, this not as much. This book contains what basically are a bunch of mini one shots that felt rushed and unfinished in my opinion. This book should more accurately be described as a sampler in that regard. Such as the stories themselves seemed like intros or outtakes to other books by the artists perhaps. I don’t know if it was the timing in it or the stories that the publishers decided to include. As I stated this is my opinion and may diverse from others. I may give the second volume a try just to support the genre, but I’m not very optimistic about it. The art is decent overall and it’s ok for a quick read if you are in fact just looking for short stories or something similar to kill time, but don’t expect any real plot, character development or background.
