A great show that shouldn't be missed

by -

The first season of Symphogear is an excellent package. Most often with anime BD releases you can't expect much extra. They do give the usual OP/ED along with trailers. On top of that though they give an in-universe concert sequence, live action concert event with the voice actresses taking part, and a live-action intro to the show.

The show itself is excellent. It has some very solid action sequences, concert scenes that some actual idol anime could learn from, and some interesting visual choices for those OP/ED sequences. The story is a solid start for the franchise. Some things are obvious, but there are also some legitimate surprises in this one.

Symphogear is unique. A mixture that works. You take one part magical girl, one part idol show, part superhero, action, and throw in a slightly futuristic setting. A show where people are fighting and singing at the same time.

I'd absolutely recommend it.

Good Sales = More NA Blu-ray Releases

Ok, here's the deal... The show is great, it's fun, over the top, and cheap by most blu-ray standards. We need this to sell well so Discotek will bring over the rest of the seasons to the states. Buy It!!!

A unique show that's worth your time

Symphogear is a show that's definitely a handful to summarize to someone. It's an amalgam of many facets of anime, from idols to magical girls to drama and so on that normally would have no business working in one show, yet somehow here it just clicks into one package of unfiltered hype. There is a reason why this franchise went on to span 5 seasons, a mobile game, and sold out concert venues. The first season is definitely a slow burner to start, but if you stick through (and turn your brain off) you'll hopefully see why this show is as popular in Japan as it is.

The Blu-Ray is also a great package as well; on top of all episodes of the anime, there are many bonus features such as interviews with the creators, promo materials, and so on.

Good Subs

Quality distribution. The subtitles are very professional and easy to read even among all the flashing colors. There is also a generous amount of extra content a pleasant surprise. The price ain't half bad either.
