Sword Art Online the Movie Progressive Aria of a Starless Night Limited Edition Blu-ray
About Sword Art Online the Movie Progressive Aria of a Starless Night Limited Edition Blu-ray
Sword Art Online the Movie -Progressive- Aria of a Starless Night Limited Edition contains the anime movie directed by Ayako Kono plus a Special 68-page Booklet.
This is a tale of the time before “Lightning Flash” and “The Black Swordsman” were known by those names… The day that she happened to don the NerveGear, Asuna Yuuki was a third-year middle school student who’d never even touched an online game before.
On November 6, 2022, the world’s first VRMMORPG, Sword Art Online, is officially launched. But the players, still euphoric over having logged in, suddenly find themselves trapped inside the game when the Game Master deprives them of any way to log out. The Game Master then gives them this warning “This may be a game, but it’s not something you play.” If a player dies in-game, they die in the real world. Hearing this, all of the players panic, and pandemonium reigns. One of those players is Asuna, but despite not yet knowing the rules of this world, she sets off to conquer the floating iron castle, Aincrad, whose peak is too high to be seen. As the days go by in this world where death is never very far away, she has a fateful encounter. And then, a parting… Though she’s at the mercy of the reality before her eyes, Asuna fights on with all her might until someone appears before her: the aloof swordsman, Kirito…

The best way to experience Aria of a Starless Night (at home).

Aria has quickly become my favorite piece of Sword Art Online animated media to date, and this Limited Edition is equally stunning.
It starts with the packaging itself. Yes, there's just one disk and a booklet inside, but the box casing itself is gorgeous (pictures don't do it justice), and it was so fun flipping through the booklet that was filled with interviews and concept art. There's also commentary audio featuring the Japanese main cast!
I might be a little biased, as this was my first experience with blu-ray, but it completely blows streaming out of the water. The audio used is lossless LPCM 2.0 (stereo) and Dolby TrueHD 5.1 (surround), and it shows. Crunchy sword skills are truly impactful, the OST fully soars, the picture is perfectly crisp- as someone who didn't get to see it in theaters, it was a real treat! If you were about to stream it, stop- and make sure this blu-ray is your first experience with the movie- it does it every last bit of justice that it deserves.
Great Blu-Ray, Disappointing Limited Edition.

I was very happy to get this, but unfortunatly unlike every other limited edition bluray of SAO, this does not include the OST. This comes with the bluray, along with a booklet highlighting SAO's history (Similar to the one found in SAO Ordinal Scale limited edition. I will say that I am very happy they included Stereo audio for this release, I was afraid it would only be 5.1 because of how the Ordinal Scale bluray is. Must have for collectors.
Entertaining Movie with Asuna as the Main Character
by MKY -
The Aincrad Arc is retold through the outlook of Asuna's experiences, with a more in-depth interpretation of her prior adventures alongside friend/partner Mito. Then a miscalculation in battle will leave Asuna alone and in peril...until a mysterious swordsman appears.
A-1 Pictures has added scenes in the movie that fans complained was missing in the original SAO anime series, and while there is repetition in the film, I really enjoyed the changes on the perspectives in battle; especially, the final 1st floor combat with new sequences that looked fresh but more importantly...is very entertaining!
Chipboard box features a 'distinct tincture' style artwork that looks fantastic. The booklet contains a history of SAO, staff interviews, monster/weapons designs, and a gallery of illustrations. LiSA sings the cl song "Yuke" and notable extras includes commentary by creator Reki Kawahara with VAs of Asuna, Kirito, and Mito, plus a teaser clip of next movie, "SAOP: Scheizou of the Deep Night".
Enjoyable Film, Good Product

I saw the second film in the theaters in February and wanted to pick up this one to go back and watch. I really enjoyed the film (though I think I enjoyed the second film a bit more). I liked the packaging and the artbook. I wish they had a featurette of the English dub voice cast and that Aniplex would have it be a little bit cheaper but overall good product
