About Sword Art Online Progressive Novel Volume 5

Sword Art Online Progressive volume 5 is written by Reki Kawahara.

After successfully untangling themselves from a dangerous encounter with the Black Poncho Man and clearing the fifth floor of Aincrad, Kirito and Asuna head to the next challenge, an area filled with...puzzles? What's more, because of the precarious balance of power between two large guilds aiming for the same item, "The Flag of Valor", there's also a murderous PK group to be wary of. As the problems seem to pile up, Kirito and Asuna face the sixth floor of Aincrad completely unaware of the malicious trap awaiting them!!

SAO Progressive volume 5 is part one of a two part story. It seems much more like an extended prologue as it is the first half of the story. But there are some rather interesting developments that are making me agonize over waiting for volume 6. Reki Kawahara has commented throughout the series about how Kirito's and Asuna's relationship seems like it's progressing too fast to work with the original SAO story, which I would agree with. But you just can't help but love the chemistry between Kirito and Asuna as they come closer instead of already being close as they are in all the SAO volumes except the first half or so of the original SAO volume 1. Reki Kawahara's writing abilities have greatly improved since writing the first volume of SAO and it is very obvious in the interactions between Kirito and Asuna in progressive and it makes reading about them fall in love again even more enjoyable than the original Aincrad story.
