About Sword Art Online Progressive Novel Volume 1

Sword Art Online Progressive Novel Volume 1 is written by Reki Kawahara.

One month after Akihiko Kayaba's game of death began, the death toll continues to rise, two thousand players having already lost their lives to the ultra-difficult VRMMO world of Sword Art Online. On the day of the strategy meeting to plan out the first-floor boss battle, Kirito, a solo player who vows to fight alone to get stronger, runs into a rare, high-level female player. She gracefully dispatches powerful monsters with a single rapier that flashes like a shooting star in the night...

This volume contains three stories, including "Aria of a Starless Night," which details how Kirito came to be called the Black Swordsman, and "Rondo of a Fragile Blade," the tragic tale of a young blacksmith that takes place before the second-floor boss fight.

Note: This story is an alternate retelling of Sword Art Online's Aincrad arc from Asuna's point of view.

Perfeco Mr. Kawahara!

This may seem too much of an expository but really Reki intends this book to be different from the Aincrad arc. I've enjoyed Reki's preformance, he shows character developement within our favorite characters, Asuna & Kirito. My expirence was just like fate stay night vs fate zero, becuase I knew the ending to this story but the progression to the final destination is just so appealing. I hope A-1 Pictures adapts the 2nd half of the book (the story of the 2nd floor). Overall the art and lexicon of the translator exceeded my expectations. Brava!

A fresh outlook on Aincrad

by -

This spin-off from the original SAO novel series is a well done slower paced but much more in depth look at the world of Aincrad. The book takes you through the different floors of Aincrad following Kirito and Asuna among others one floor at a time with a much deeper look at the world and each individual floor and the people within it.

Great book!

This book delivers exactly what I wanted from SAO. I wanted to hear more about Aincrad and what happened on the floors that the anime skipped over. A great read for SAO fans or anyone looking for a good story.

SAO but more detail in the game.

Same author of Sword Art Online but going in more depth of the First couple floors in this novel. You meet new characters and learn some fun, interesting things.

Highly recommend if you love the Sword Art Online series.
