Not as bad as I expected.

SAO manga has the stigma of being average. You will find that they switch artists towards the beginning of this volume and it is much better. The goofy expression on the cover is improved. The story itself seems like they are just trying to cover events without going into them too much. The original progressive series was much better, but it does enough to make me interested in seeing if it will get better. Make your judgement on how much you like SAO.
