In the year 2022, gamers rejoice as Sword Art Online - a VRMMORPG (Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) like no other - opens its virtual doors. Now players can take full advantage of the ultimate in gaming technology: NerveGear, a system that allows users to completely immerse themselves in the game world by manipulating their brain waves to create a wholly realistic gaming experience.
When the game goes live, the elation of the players quickly turns to horror as they discover that, for all its amazing features, SAO is missing one of the most basic functions of any MMORPG: a log-out button. Now trapped in the virtual world of Aincrad, their bodies held captive by NerveGear in the real world, users are issued a chilling ultimatum: conquer all one-hundred floors of Aincrad to regain their freedom. I Love The Story!

I decided to buy this to read the original media this series originated from, and I tremendously love it! It's in Kirito's POV and it gave more information on the dynamics of the nerve gear and virtual reality which answers some questions you may have randomly thought of about full dive VR. Also, I love that Asuna is the only girl mentioned in this volume as she greatly supports Kirito to the end. She's best girl X3
I love SAO

Since I saw the anime series I fell in love with this story and its characters. Now when reading it I loved it more for discovering details that the series omitted. And the illustrations of abec are beautiful.

I think that this book is okay. I don't recommend this because of the main character, Kirigaya Kazuto. Kazuto is just a boring character. When he is given a tough challenge, he is able to quickly overcome it with no problem at all. This is annoying since I am interested in a character that struggles massively. I can go against my point by mentioning Saitama from One Punch Man. He is even more overpowered than Kazuto but One Punch Man focuses on comedy. Sword Art Online tries to add jokes but completely fails at it.
