About Super Lovers Complete Series Essentials Blu-ray

Super Lovers Complete Series Essentials contains episodes 1-20 and both OVAs of the anime directed by Shinji Ishihara.

Haru Kaido hasn’t had the easiest life. After losing his father and step-mother in a tragic accident, he’s struggled to keep himself afloat. As he starts getting used to working as a host and being on his own, an eccentric teen appears claiming to be his other brother—adopted by his estranged mother in Canada. Even stranger, he talks about a late summer they spent together five years ago, before the accident. The memories are hazy, but something is there…something familiar. Now, with Ren coming into his life, Haru is struggling to bring his family together while dealing with strong feelings he’s developed for the other.

Obstinate and even feral at times, Ren proves to be a unique challenge but also a light in Haru’s life. Can they figure out what’s in their hearts, or is this one dysfunction the family can’t handle?

Special Feature: Textless Songs.

One of my absolute favorites. The BluRay is awesome! The subs are easy to read and the picture is super sharp.

Both OVA's!

One of the main reasons I like to buy animes on DVD and Blu-ray is they allow me to watch the OVA's from official sources which support the series--as many streaming services do not include them. I'm really happy with this purchase because it includes both OVA's for the series, the second of which I did not even know existed. The case and discs are the high quality I've come to expect from Funimation products, and arrived well-protected as I've come to expect from RightStufAnime. I enjoyed getting to watch both OVA's and reexperience this fun show.

Good release, gross show.

This blu-ray looks great and the price is good. If you’re already a fan, it's a safe buy for you. If you haven't seen the show, I'd skip it. I blind bought this and to my horror it ended up being one of those shows with a creepy / downright illegal age gap between the couple. The story is a mess; the four main characters all live together, and are supposed to be brothers, except they... aren't actually? The show is annoyingly unclear on this. The oldest and youngest "brothers" end up falling in love... The older brother, Haru, is constantly infantilizing the younger, Ren (further adding to the creep factor), and Ren is constantly playing hot and cold with his older brother - punching Haru, hiding from him, telling him to stay away - and then acting all shocked and depressed when Haru doesn’t realize that Ren is madly in love with him. It's silly and exhausting. That said, some of the support characters were funny and there is some cute humor and nice looking animation.
