Best anime ever
by Megan
Best anime in the world i love it so much. I wish they would make a second season so bad or at least more merchandise! I will buy anything they put out no question.
More of a heads-up than a review.

Fun series though this release does have a few things wrong with it that I think people should be aware of. The first is that the show runs in 480i and is definitely a SDBD. It doesn't say anything about that on the box or anywhere I could find.
There are also hardcoded yellow subs. Yellow subs don't bother me but they are definitely a bit blurry at times and look like they were taken from the DVD version. I do not have the original DVD version so I cannot comment on how it compares to this release.
Strawberry panic is such a classic yuri anime series
by Sylvia -
Strawberry panic has to probably be my favorite yuri anime series of all time. The characters and the story are just so fun and interesting. The story can get deep but in a good way. Upon getting my own copy of the series I did notice the subtitles are a bit wonky at times but it's not a big deal to me personally. The DVD set is very simple and the discs are a bit bland for my taste, but these are just little nitpicks. In general though I enjoyed rewatching this series and going through all the feel trips again because this series has one of the most beautiful endings I've ever seen.
Great Series, but some Blu Ray Issues
by S -
First of all: I love this series! I jumped on this the second I saw it. One of the best Yuri's I've seen, with a fantastic ending! I want to give 4 stars for the series, but I can't in light of the disc issues.
Sadly this Blu Ray release isn't great. It's fine, does the trick, but veeery basic. The subtitles are yellow, look like old VHS ones, and are a bit laggy. The skip ahead button just skips to the next episode. You can't pick between episodes, you just have to skip until you hopefully found the right one - all openings are the same, so it's hard to tell where you're at and then have to forward through to see. And for some reason every time they say "Etoile" it shows up as "...toile", which I have to say is very jarring.
Good Anime Trash Subs
by Erik -
It was already said a lot.
The Anime is great. A lot of different interesting and funny characters and in itself an interesting story.
So why only 2 stars? Its easy. Because the sub is disgusting. It is some low quality yellow lettering like from 2000 which I could overlook. The thing thats really disgusting is, is that they misspelled the word etoile literally every time and its the most used word of the Anime.
When I happily bought the BluRay I was so dissapointed when seeing that its hard to describe. I will stick to the old DVD release I bought years ago since I can just not overlook this kind of misstake. It shows that whoever made this sub didn't care at all. If you are a collector like me you can buy it but I would recommend the original DVD release over the BluRay every day of the week.
I saw why it's a classic

I hesitated on this because some of the other reviews made me worry it would be a pain to watch in terms of the video and subtitle quality. I'm glad I finally gave in and bit for it during a sale period.
The video quality is not quite "HD" despite being on blu-ray, but it's perfectly fine if you're not a videophile. Some of the previous comments on the subtitles proved true, like "etoile" appearing as "..." in some of the early episodes; that gets fixed after a few episodes. Other than that, they're perfectly readable (maybe unless you know Japanese and like to pick apart translation details).
Me, I came for the story, and it actually delivered more than I was anticipating. I see why it's considered an essential work, especially in yuri. I enjoyed it so much, I tracked down a used collection of the novels. It made me want to read the original story--for me, that's probably the highest compliment I can give to a movie/TV adaptation of a book.
