Amazing volume!

by -

For some reason I can't hit the last star while doing this review but this is 5 stars for sure! The story here is very compelling and the humor is really what shines in this series. Ana is absolutely hilarious. Right does a better job than anyone at making sure the books come in good condition which I really appreciate!

Fraud Family with Benefits

by

It starts as a seemingly serious spy story that quickly ends up being a hilarious, family-centered story with some action. The premise itself, which involves a spy, assassin, and an esper, is enough to get the ball rolling and keep rolling as this trio starts as a sham of a family to slowly become a real one.
Not to mention the characters are so lively and drive this story as they try, mess up, and stick it out for the real mission behind this setup. The assassin is also a little clueless for being so deadly and the esper is just a little dumb which makes the obstacles to complete this mission even more complicated; making it quite the entertaining story.
Overall it's a series with a lot of potential for more surprises, unique situations, and lots of trouble. Making it a fun, emotional, and refreshing read.

Pretty good!

by

Really enjoyable so far, even though it wasn't quite as funny as I'd expected after reading other reviews. Most of the humor stems from the fact that the only one in this surprisingly sweet little "family" who has any idea about what's actually going on is the little telepathic kid (who no one else realizes is telepathic).

Eventually the other characters are going to figure things out (or so I'd assume), but thankfully the humor isn't this series' sole focus. Between Yor's secret life as an assassin, Twilight's mission, and Anya's past as a test subject, there's a lot of room for this series to go in whatever direction the author might like. I can't wait to read the next volume.

Good series

by -

First of all, the art for me is always something I look at when starting a new series and this is good. The main characters are all very likable and the story is definitely good! All the main characters are well balanced. A spy dad an assassin mom and an esper daughter definitely makes for a very funny story.

Wholesome

by -

A very entertaining read that follows a nice family. It has action and suspense, but it is mostly focused on entertaining/cute situations that the cast can get into. The art style is more unique than most manga and is very clean. While not plot-heavy, the novel does move things forward at a satisfying pace.

So much potential

by -

I am honestly surprised by how much I loved this one! It's such a cute quirky story so far, and the whole accidental wholesomeness of this 'family' is just too much. It has some fairly quickly established world-building, but it really works for the tone of the story. Plus the lack of incredible background detail really lends to the rather quirky nature of the overall story. The humor is fantastic as well.

This is definitely a series with a ton of potential.

Can't wait for the rest of the manga volumes!

I decided to pick this up after having a lot of people recommend it to me. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I love the story and the beautiful artwork and will definitely be buying future volumes.

The Funniest Non-Comedy Series You'll Find

by -

This volume contains some truly hilarious chapters of Agent Twilight's story, and it only get's better from here. The actual drama and political intrigue can really hook you though! And the art is just *chef's kiss*. A must have series!

The rumors are true!

by -

I read great things about spy family so I decided to purchase the first volume. The art style of the manga is clean and the story plot is well written. A spy that is self centered has to become a family man to complete a mission sounds Interesting but it gets better when you find out that the wife he finds is a assassin and his daughter is a telepath. The story contains action and it’s really funny. It’s such a lovely manga. I can’t wait to read the order volumes.

Spectacular Read

by -

I might not be 100% accurately, but I'd describe this as a SoL comedy with a twist-I'm sure I don't need to say what the twist is, but it makes for a nice change of pace, and I'm sure this will appeal to those who aren't typically that entertained by your typical SoL manga. The character dynamics are nice and the setting as well.

Highly Recommend

by -

I was never planning on buying the physical copies when I decided to start it on the Viz App. I only started reading because so many of my friends were raving about it. I can now say I understand the hype. It's such a funny yet cute story and I got a few good laughs while reading it. I loved it so much I decided to collect the physical copies.

Breath of fresh air in the shounen genre!

by -

A story about how three unlikely individuals form a family together each with their own motives. Despite their different objectives, they form strong bonds to overcome their intersecting challenges. Great art, the comedy is on-point, and a good balance between action and character building.

Love it!

by

Wow, what a fantastic start to a new series. I've heard a lot of buzz for this manga all over the internet, so I decided to give it a go. I went in a bit skeptical and finished this volume eagerly waiting for the next. It was so much fun! The characters and the story had me laughing out loud a decent amount of times. They're all stuck in quite a unique situation which leads to lots of interesting and funny moments. If you're on the fence about picking this one up, I say give it a go!

As for the physical books itself its a very nice quality. The cover has this really nice metallic sheen to it, and it doesn't smudge easily like some other shiny manga can tend to. Overall, I'm really impressed with the physical book itself as well. Oh, and the art style is really great as well in my opinion!

Amazing/action packed first volume!!

by

I just finished reading the first volume and I am so in love with it, the humor, the action, the unique backstory to each and every character is amazing and really makes this series stand out compared to others. If you are barely starting out on reading manga like I was, I HIGHLY recommend to start off with this series, it was so enjoyable and definitely a good first read.

LOL

by -

I actually really liked the first volume. At first I thought that the story was going to be really serious, but later I saw it was actually really comedic. I love how each of the characters have unique personalities. I laughed out loud while reading this volume. I think if you're looking for something comedic and you enjoy a bit of action then you should definitely try this manga series.

Really looking forward to more volumes

A spy with the code name twilight is given the task to start a family for one of his missions, to do this he picks up a girl from an orphanage and with her, they find the "mom". This little girl is a telepath and the mom is an assassin. I've seen this series in most people's manga collection so I was very interested, and I was not disappointed. So far their family dynamic is amazing and the little girl is so adorable. Also, I adore some of the illustrations I would frame and hang on my walls. I love it so much couldn't recommend enough.

Deserves the hype!!

by -

First off, the cover is shiny and the art is beautiful. Secondly, this series is worth all the hype it’s been getting on TikTok. The story is hilarious and actually quite heart warming. They aren’t a “real” family but can see that they love to be together. Honestly, the three of them couldn’t have been a better match! Can’t wait to see more from them and how their relationship progresses.

I loved it!

I love this manga so much already! The order came with other manga and it all was packed safely and came quite quickly as well!
The manga is so funny so far and features a range of character that each have their own powers and also their own use to the story line! I really loved this purchase and would highly recommend it!

Fantastic for recommending to friends

by -

Spy X Family is a great manga to own for a number of reasons. The first volume in particular has higher value than many other manga’s firsts since it’s immediately intriguing and entertaining. For me, it’s been the perfect choice to recommend to friends, especially if they aren't that into anime/manga, as it’s quickly rewarding. The story is also nearly universally enjoyable as it's a light read without many themes to turn people away.

The story kicks off when a brilliant spy is tasked with a mission that requires him to set up a family in disguise. He ends up finding someone to play the mother... who turns out to be an assassin by night. He also finds the most adorable little girl as a daughter. Oh, but she can also read minds! If you've read something like Yotsuba&! then you can expect a similar level of wholesome cuteness from her. Hijinks and heartwarming moments quickly ensue as the father desperately tries to complete his mission while keeping his “fake” family together.

A master Spy, a world class Assassin and a 6 yo telepath? Spy x Family is one of the best comedies SJ has given us in the last decade

by

Perfect Condition. I love the cover art and the color they chose for the background, they look very nice in the shelf. What do you get when you mix a master Spy, the best Assassin in the world and a 6 yo telepath? Of course you get a comedy like no other... right? Spy x Family is the best comedy that SJ has published in many years. I started reading since release in the SJ app, and I fell in love with the manga immediately. All 3 MCs are amazing, but we all know that Anya is the puppet master behind all the fun in the manga. Oh yeah, the story is important too: Master Spy has an undercover mission to infiltrate an elite school to have access to a politician that's threatening the truce between the East and West, and for that he needs to get married and have a kid (splat!). Yor, the wife also needs a husband to avoid being discovered as an assassin, so win-win, and Anya just wants a family, but reading minds is a double edge sword when your parents are a Spy and an Assassin.

Sweet, quirky, hilarious series

by

Love this series so much! It's popular for a reason. I bought the first volume to see what the hype was all about, and as soon as I finished it I immediately went to order the rest. A perfect mix of comedy, action, and building up the relationships between the characters in a comedic but also genuinely sweet and realistic way. If you're on the fence I would definitely recommend just trying the first volume - it does a great job of setting the tone and getting you attached to the characters. The only downside of this series is that the volumes come out relatively slowly, and I'm impatient to read more!

Cute action series!

by -

I love this series!!! It is so cute and wholesome with a little bit of action. It is also super funny too. I love how wholesome the characters are. The dad is a spy, the mom is an assassin, and the child is a mind reader! Such a fun combo and I cannot wait to read the other volumes and see what trouble this family goes through.
